Hi,

Has anyone ever had an eczema type rash on their eyelids?I have had this twice since I came home from holiday in Tenerife, have started losing my hair since then too.I have never had eczema seems a strange place to suddenly get it.I used a steroid cream on it but its came back, not going to put anything on it again till I see my GP!

Thanks,

Bonnie.

Hi Bonnie and welcome :)

Can't say I've had eczema there and I had pretty bad and longstanding eczema in my younger years. It's not a very typical spot for it and if you have had increased hair loss then it makes me wonder if it's not some kind of autoimmune process going on. Did you get a lot of sun exposure in Tenerife? Lupies don't do well in the sun and it often increases our symptoms leading to a flare up which is not always limited to just skin either :(

Hi Bonnie, I suffer from eczema and have had it on the inner section of the eye lids. I just used diprobase to cure it. And when it got real bad I mixed a very mild steroid cream with the diprobase (under drs advice) and that seemed to do the trick.

But I would ask your dr first.

Hi Bonnie,

This was my first symptom of lupus. I had 'eczema' on one eyelid which eumovate helped clear then I got it in both eyes and under the lids. I had to go to hospital and was told it was allergic conjuctivitis.

On the occasions that I've had a flare I get the rash on my eyes as well as my cheeks. My dermatologist at the Western in Glasgow gave me Protopic cream which clears it up in a day or so. It is not a steroid but suppresses the inflammatory reaction.

Hope that helps,

Thanks Pam thats interesting,I used Eumovate and it cleared was only on one eyelid but now its came back on both, seeing my GP on 8th Septemeber which seems like ages away, scared I'll have no hair by then!but not going to use the cream so she can see it,which is hard as the itch is driving me crazy!
