Hi I have not been diagnosed yet still waiting on the results from recent tests, I was wondering if this was just me or not. My eyes can seem very dry expecially first thing in the morning when then can feel gritty all day. When I am in the shower I could stand for awhile before but now I cannot stand the water in my eyes, this is very annoying as I like to stand in a cool shower to take the itch away. I am going to see my gp tommorrow it this worth mentioning or is it just me being silly.:(

No you are not being silly at all....a lot of people on this site have sjoergens....this can cause dry eyes...i have it and at first it is just irritating, but it can later really hurt...with the correct medicine drops or gel you can help it a lot, but sjoergrens has may other symptoms too...with Lupus its best to tell your Dr. everything what may seem trivial to you could be a warning sign of something else to him....
Good luck

Additionally, many people with lupus will also have dry eyes. It is one of the alternative criteria used/developed by Dr. Hughes, and eminent lupus specialist doctor. :) I agree that it is certainly worth mentioning. A Schirmer's test can be done to determine the extent of the dry eye that you have.

Treatment usually involves artificial eye drops, and if your problem is worse after sleeping you may want to try using an eye ointment right before going to bed. That can help a lot.
