Hi,

I posted last week that I had to go to ER do to an eye swelling shut, face swollen and red. This has know happened to me in varying degrees 4 times. It was always treated before with pred and assumed to be an allergic reaction to pine needels. This time they added an antibodic to the mix.

Tonight I found a DX in with the papers called Facial Cellulitis. I did some research on net. Reasons for it were knid of all over the place but autoimune disease, people on auto supressant drugs and people with sjorgens were brought up more than once. Has any one ever heard of this?

Swelling is down (no longer scare small children lol), redness and bruising is gone. Vision is almost normal. Eye still hurts some when I move it. See Doc beginning of next week.

Today last day of steriods...yeah. On antibodics for another few days.

Dudley, I was hospitalised with this last year. They thought at first it was mumps. Just a word of warning ,take it easy. I found I actually took about a month to recover fully.

I only know about cellulitis from infection - I ended up with a lot of cellulitis from infected burns (really not to be recommended). So, the treatment for that was antibiotics.

I think it can be related to lupus too, but I definitely know that it can be related to infection as that has been my experience. Oh, I just remembered my friend getting awful cellulitis around her ear when she had an ear infection (again, that was treated with antibiotics).

Whatever is causing yours, I hope it clears up soon

cheers

Hi,

Thanks for your replies.

Was out on net again and can't even find a substatial amount of articals that agree on who treats it for the eyes. Eye docs, neuro's, contagist disease, primary care docs, allergists etc.

For some reason when DX's with Sjorgens ...beyond seeing an eye doc 2 times per year and having field test done for Plaq toxicity I also have to see a Retnal specialist. I also had to go to a hospital that deals with eyes only for special tests...boy they were fun. I never really asked why...just assumed standard procedure. Will be asking questions now. I never had a problem with my eyes.

One big problem is that I am such a big baby about my eyes. I would rather have a root canal than an eye exam.

Any more info would be appreciated

Thanks Elaine
