Hi everyone.

I'm not sure if I'm starting to flare with my "not definate or defined connective tissue syndrome" that I'm being treated for.

Last week was very hectic and I overdid it a bit. I had physio yesterday and today all my muscles and joints are aching. Last week I also had a bright red face in the evenings, a tendon problem in my foot has returned and I've got thrush for no obvious reason, and I'm having loads of cramps and muscle twitches. Is this the sort of thing that happens at the start of a flare? I don't want to visit GP if I'm just being a hyperchondriac.

For me hair loss and depression seem to come a week or so before a flare-so I get some warning. If I am clever enough to recognise it.
Mouth ulcers can be another sign.
Sounds like you have been doing too much. Just because they have not given you a definite label, you are still ill and need to take care.

Hello there,

I'm sorry you're feeling low right now. It's difficult to say is this a flare for you or simply the result of having overdone it. I get those types of symptoms very easily but I can't really say if they're flare related as I seem to be flaring far too much of the time to tell the difference!

I think that the thing is you have to rest as much as you can and if things don't get better / continue to get worse then don't ignore it and go and see your doc.

hugs to you

For those types of symptoms, it may be a little flare from overdoing it. I do not go to a doctor anymore for symptoms like an increase in joint pain or even a low grade fever or hurting all over. I will go if it gets so severe that I feel I need some prednisone to tide me over, or if I get other symptoms that suggest there is something specific the doctor can do to get me better (like sinus infection or ear infection, etc.)

Hope you can "over-rest" for a few days now and get to feeling better! ;)

Hi Wendy,

Sorry to hear you are feeling so miserable. I hope your discomfort doesn't last too long. Definitely try to get some rest.

I am one of those that tends to overdo. It has taken me years to learn to pace myself and I am still not great at it. A little voice in my head says "just one more thing". The thing that helps stop me is the reminder of how much pain I will be in if I continue. Also if that one more thing that lays me up for days it will put me that much more behind on other chores when I am down. It is the go slow to go fast theory. I hope you learn the balancing act more quickly than I did.

Take care,
Lazylegs
