Hello all

Well everything was going peachy since I was diagnosed a few weeks ago - and on saturday I thought I'd go out in the garden and do a bit of gardening - felt great so did rather alot of gardening - no problems - felt a bit tired sunday - felt a bit more tired yesterday and couldn't concentrate - feel absolutely rubbish today - glands ar eup got a sore throat - thought I'd ignore it - popped into the garden to do some weeding - legs started to REALLY hurt after about 2 mins then they started to shake uncontrollably and I stumbled indoors sat down and now feel awful! really week and shaky and basically like I'm getting the flu - so I take it this is what's known in loopie circles as a flare... but what has caused it? Cou;d it be I overdid it on saturday or was it that it was the warmest day of the year so far and the sun did it - or what - can a flare come on 3 days after over doing it??? anyway I've got to stop typing because my arms are really hurting too. does this sound like a flare to anyone or am I over reacting????:(

Sounds like a flare to me. Some flares hit right away others wait a day or two.
The combination of overdoing and being in the sun was just too much. The most important thing now is to get plenty of rest. If things do not improve then let your rheumy know.

Hope you feel better soon.

Take care,

Sounds like a flare to me.

The sun and gardening and doing too much will always do you in.

It takes a while before we GET IT.. So you may suffer from a couple more flares before you realize what you can do and what you can't and how much of it your body will allow.

Taking things in moderation is the best way to go.. Do a little then rest a little,,,,, and so on.

Rest, rest, rest like lazylegs says and hopefully you will be out of your flare in no time.

Good Luck

Yes, sounds like a classic flare. And it may very well be caused by the sun. I can't be out in the sun for more than a few minutes without becoming ill. I get a fever, sores on my face and joint pains. More than a little sun and I'm really out.

Take care of yourself. Rest as much as you can. Don't forget to eat. It might be helpful to keep a journal so that you begin to see patterns in what sets off flares and bad times.

I hope you feel better soon.

Thank you so much for your kind replies - still feeling very fragile and that is what I am finding really wierd about all of this - how vulnerable and delicate it is making me feel - as though everything surrounding me is larger than life - people seem louder and bigger - I'm far more sensitive to temperature changes - and feeling cold alot - voices sound for want of a bettre word scary and the world suddenly seems quite scary too - its all very weird as though my 'life buffers' have been taken away and I'm exposed - I'm not explaining it very well but almost as if that inbuilt coping mechanism has gone and left me feeling about eight years old! It is sooooo weird - maybe its just me....:(

Anyway thank you all so much for your kind words xxx hopefully with a bit of rest it will all go.

JB1,

I think how your feeling is quite normal - only say that as I feel vunerable when I'm at my lowest with bad symptoms!

Have you started on any pains/modifying meds yet?

I feel flu like just going shopping for a few items. I have not quite worked out a happy medium of lifes tasks yet!

Hope you feel a bit better soon - if not go back to GP or specialist!

Take care,

Lesley
