I am 58 to make who started having a myriad of symptoms to include Fatigue, low grade fever and stage 3 kidney failure. Long story short, a Neurologist at Shands ordered many blood tests which showed an elevated ANA, speckled pattern, elevated ss DNA, elevated anticentromere antibody, and an elevated thyroid antibody. Does this represent mixed collagen vascular disease or Lupus?

Hi and welcome to the site. I can understand that you want answers, however I would imagine that further tests are going to be necessary. A referral to a kidney specialist and a possible kidney biopsy to confirm the cause of the kidney disease.

I know this isnt what you want to hear, however it is realistic. Whichever disease it ends up being, treatment is essentially the same, and can help you live a near normal life.

Welcome Mark.

When I was first diagnosed I was told Lupus was just one type of collagen vascular disease. It would be considered mixed if the person had 3 or more types. It is more common to see it as Mixed Connective Tissue Disease.

Take care,
