Goodbye my Beautiful boy

Today, my beautiful, patient and gentle Cocky was put to sleep. He was so patient and tolerant of all the littlies at our local nursery school. He allowed them to pull his wings about, touch his comb and generally touchy feelly all over. He would sit so quietly and he never frightened any of the babes. Sadly he became ill on Sunday, it was all over by today, it was so quick, I do not think he suffered, but I miss him so much already. He really was a special bird and loved to be held and carried on your arm or shoulder. I feel so sad that he never got his freedom to stay out with his girls at night, he always had to come in because of complaints by a neighbour. He never got his place in the countryside. I think he was one of a kind.

To you dear Cocky, I am so sorry.

I am so sorry about the loss of your beloved Bird.
Some how I missed the fact that you owned a bird???
I thought it was just chickens, gosh I must not have paid attention when you spoke.
Take time to grieve and come here for support to get through this.
I really am so sorry.
I know first hand how birds are the closest things to humans that we can cage in our homes.
My passion is birds and Cockatoos are indeed special.
Gently hugs being sent to you.
Rosie,

So sorry to hear about Cocky (the cockerel). It must of been a tough decision to get him put to sleep but in my opinion an act of kindnest.

Take care,

Lots of hugs!

Lesley
I'm sorry you had to put him down. No matter what the loved one was/is, the loss hurts. Sometimes we have to love them enough to let them go.

A few weeks back, I heard on the radio this phrase:
"Grief is the price we pay for love." It pretty much sums it up.
May peace, healing, and good memories be yours.

I am so sorry to hear of your sad news. It sounds like he was very special.

I am sorry to hear about Cocky:hug:, our pets of all types become such a big part of our lives, they are part of the family. Their love is unconditional, they give so much and ask for so little. They lift us when we need it they somehow seem to know. It is so hard to let them go and say goodbye but I am sure you have lots of wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. Take care and remember the good times.

Take care of yourself

Rasp,
I know just how you feel and if it comforts you any I believe that he was happy just the way he was, for he had not been he would not of been so settled with everyone. Maybe you was his girl in heart. Hearts will heal this I know and we still have those wonder memories of our dear dear pets to hold in our hearts. Bless our companions for giving us so much comfort and understanding and for sharing their lives with us. They don't ask for much, so when the time is right you will find a new companion to let in your heart it just happens to us animal lovers lol.
