ME! hahaha
I went to lanzarote last week, the day before i was due to fly home (wed 18feb) I slipped down a slope and twisted my ankle. Thought it was just a sprain, iced it and strapped it. Well it still wasnt getting any better yesterday so I decided to get it checked....I broke my ankle  oh dear, now i'm in plaster and doing my best to hop around, but those casts are heavy :(
Can't believe i was hobbling around for a week on a broken ankle!
Trust me !:lol::rotfl:

Oh dear Vikki :( that sounds painful!

I broke my ankle (guess what, falling off a horse) when I was 14 and it was a guy in a car who saw me hobbling back along the road (to catch the horse) who stopped and said "your ankle is broken, you really shouldn't be walking on it" :rotfl: He gave me a lift and the horse had gone home to eat grass.

Hope it mends well, bit of a drag to have to hobble a heavy cast around,

Katharine

(((((((Vikki)))))))

You poor thing :hugbetter: What a darn nuisance and ever so painful. Just goes to show the kind of pain threshold we Lupies can develop though, eh?

I hope you didnt do any more damage by hobbling around on it. You are one strong cookie!

Lots of gentle hugs and I hope that you have the date in your diary for the de-casting ;) They are very heavy things alright :hugbetter:

Luv n stuff

Hi Vikki,

I hope you ankle mends quickly. Whatever you do don't use a pencil or rule to take care of the itching from the cast. If you have to use something a back scratcher is long enough not to get lost inside. Use the handle end, not the claw. However you could still irritate the area enough and get an infection you would not even know about.

Take care,

I am sorry Vikki ! :hehe: Good thing you didn't slip at the start of the holiday,
I suppose. I have heard of people even being told they had sprained an ankle by the hospital only to discover weeks later that it really was broken.

Wishing you speedy healing!
Love

Never let it be said that some lupies don't have a very high pain threshold (((((((((Vikki))))))))))

Hope you have lots of chocolates to help out, and some good DVD's!

Feel better soon

 What a relief that must be Vikki :woohoo: What a pain about the splint though :( is there nothing they can do that would put a lining inside it to at least keep it off direct contact with your skin?

they tried putting a lining inside it but that made it unstable so just a case of putting up with the itchingyness :(

Hi Vikki,

How about wearing knee high socks or thin leggings? You could even try wrapping it first in an elastic bandage or gauze. Really anything to create a buffer could possibly help.

Take care,
