:? I am not real sure how it went.
We were given by the front desk a 4 page questionnaire to fill out, but the dr saw us before we got to the form. The dr said we didn't need to fill it out because I was only there because my gp just wants to know if I need to be treated for the Grand Mal seizures I had.

He says he thinks my seizures are secondary to Lupus and being sick (I was sick with low potassium, anemia, elevated wbc's and had a TIA.) He talked to my hubby basically the entire time;) He ordered another eeg if it is abnormal will treat me aggressively if is normal he will leave me on what I am on. Topamax and Soma. He thinks if I had not been sick and had lupus then I would not have had seizures.
He would not talk about my severe left eye pain and vision disturbances-ha's he said for me to see eye dr for that. I thought maybe it all went together. He was not concerned about the olfactory hallucinations
It is like he was only concerned in the Grand Mal Seizures and that was it.
I thought it was weird, but I could be wrong.

Any comments or advice would be appreciated:)

Thank You,
Becca

Becca my friend

What can I say - I would be darned annoyed that the doc spoke to your hubby as if you weren't there. :(

Did he document everything, even the olfactory hallucinations - I would've thought he might investigate that further. It's only my humble opinion but I do think he should've taken all your symtoms as a package before dismissing some to the eye doc! I don't know much about neuro stuff but it looks like he's basing it all on the EEG and not looking at the entire picture.

Tell me if I'm wrong. How do you feel Becca?

Lots'a'luv,

Pam xxx

I would be disappointed in that visit too. Quite disappointed.

Because: (1) he talked to your hubby and not to you and (2) did not spend time discussing your concerns about some significant issues

However, maybe there is more to the story from the neuro's point of view. Maybe there were quite a few relevant tests done in the hospital that have already perhaps ruled out other possibilities or why more testing has not been recommended?

If you continue to have negative feelings, I'd discuss them with a trusted doctor (GP or rheumy - although I know you are kinda struggling to find them still too with the insurance change). And get a second opinion too of course! Try to get a recommendation on a neuro as well if at all possible.

I guess we had similar days yestereday, not the best neuro visits.

Funny you mention your husband, mine went with me to the first appt with my new neuro and he talked to my husband the entire time, I went by myself yesterday and he didn't talk hardly at all. I should have asked at the end "What are you thinking".

Hopefully someday we'll all get the answers we need.

Jen :)

Oh my Becca

I am so sorry to hear that you are going through so much:sad: and sure hope they get to the bottom of things and soon.It seems even if the doctor thinks it has to do with the seizures they seem to still think it is the eye and that is not there department but i do know what you mean about thinking that he should be taken care of it.I really hope that you can get to feeling much better real soon ((((hugs)))).Please let us know what you find out.

That would make me feel like I was the child of hubby. Not right at all !

But good luck with your testing and when your follow up comes up I would re-address that issue again and say what do you think about that?

I am hoping for good results.

Thank for your replies. I am waiting for a referral for my eeg and we will go from there. I am thinking of a 2nd opinion because it was just very bizarre the more I think about the whole appt. He didn't want to know about any of my tingling or numbness. I had a brain mri, eeg, carotid artery echo and a echocardiogram in the hospital. He did not think the eeg was thorough enough and that is why we are re doing that.

I do have a lot going on in my body. I have so many referrals to so many specialists that I am overwhelmed. Who knows???????:hehe:

Thank You All So Very Much,
Becca

Hi becca

I agree with your decision to seek a second opinion as you obviously wasn't happy with your appointment & I would follow your gut instinct.
your neuro sounds rather disrespectful to me & he hasn't reassured you or been very thorough.(although I'm no expert :) )

I'm sorry you are going through so much becca it must be very worrying for you.
good luck with your eeg :luck: ,please keep us updated
take good care
