Have been to see a rhumey privately today, was not happy with having to pay out £130 but as you may have read in my last post I had to do something. It is proabably the best money I have spent this year. He rang my local hospital and got all my blood results for the last year, and loe and behold a blood test I was told was normal in march came back with an anf or ana (i think) of 1/512, my ESR level has fluctuated between 16 - 28. He gave me a thorough examination, I took photos as requested by my last rhumey, he said photos were not very good to help him look at my swollen joints. He said I had signs of Spondylitis in my back, probably had osteoarthritis not rhumetiod possibly sjogrens syndrome as I suffer alot with a dry mouth. He said he would refer me to his NHS clinic and run tests and full xrays especially of my back, knees, hands, wrists, shoulders and feet. He has also given me an open appointment as he wants to see me when I have a really bad flare up, I just ring his sec and she gives my an appointment that day. He has said he will ost like;ly put me on Hydroxychloroquine for 4 months as I have a positive connective tissue result. (I thinks that waht he meant, he kept saying all these abbreviations and I was trying to remember what sentence webnt with what.) So finally somthing is happening. One thing is that I definatgley have Fibromyalgia, which I have had for 4 years so that wasn't a surprise. Just needed to share some good news!!!!:):):)

Oh Jo!!! That's great news!! :trampo:

I'm so glad you had a meaningful appointment and most importantly that you are going to be able to follow up properly.

So happy for you!

Dear Jo, I am pleased you are finally going to get some help. I agree paying privately can be a real hardship but it does often get the ball rolling.
