I've been chasing a diagnosis for my health problems for more than two years. Recently received a diagnosis of lupus, but only based on a couple of positive ANAs and some of my symptoms. I'm glad I found this forum and look forward to reading the threads. I originally posted a long introduction here, but moved it to the newly diagnosed column.

Welcome to the site and I look forward to getting to know you more. I hope you have found some relief now from your symptoms.

Interestingly, my only positive bloods were ANA, anti-cardiolipins, and low complements. I've never even had one elevated SED rate! Like you though, I had enough symptoms such as low grade fever, joint pain, malar rash, other sun sensitive rash, fatigue, etc. that were consistent with lupus so the diagnosis was given.

Welcome again!

I've never had any rashes. All the doctors I've seen have asked me about that and I know it's a very common sign of lupus. Also the pain I experience is more of a muscle pain than joint pain (except in my fingers and knees). That I suppose is why my rheumatologist is not fully convinced it's lupus. I posted in the newly diagnosed thread about my 2 1/2 year rollercoaster ride so far. I'm looking forward to reading more of the postings here.

Hello Karen and welcome :)

I hope that things start to become clearer now and that you're not far from a surer answer. The most important thing is that you have a rheumatologist taking you seriously and that you get some treatment.

bye for now,
Katharine

Hi Karen,

Welcome to the forum.

In the beginning I never had and rashes and my sed rate was always normal. Those two things kept steering GP's from a Lupus diagnosis. It wasn't until I finally found a good Rheumatologist that pieced together all my symptoms that I got my answer.

Enjoy looking around the site. I hope to see you in the chat room some day.

Take care,
Lazylegs

It varies, sometimes it takes one brave person to go into chat on their own to lure other people there. When people see someone in there, then they are much more likely to join in. This is something you can try some night for a while and see if it works ;)
