Hi my name is Christina and I was diagnosed with Lupus in Oct. '95. I was 15 years old. For a while I was in and out of hospitals with one thing after another. Things have been great for a while now and I have 2 great children . I see a specialist regularly and am on meds.

I started looking online to find out the difference between genetics and heredity because I have been told that Lupus is not hereditary. I am starting to wonder about this.....my dad who is 50 has just been diagnosed with Discoid Lupus and I have 2 other family members (dad's side) who also have Discoid Lupus. I am the only one who has been diagnosed with SLE. I am now wondering what the chances of my boys developing it are. My sister also seems to have something wrong with her too, whether it's being tired all the time or just not feeling well. While I was searching I came across this site and board and thought that I would see what the opinion on this was.

Welcome to the Forum. It is nice to meet you.

I have sle (female) and my brother has sle.
I know they are researching genetics and lupus.
