Hi everyone... my name is Samantha I'm 25 ( almost 26 AHH) i've been married almost 5 years and have 3 lil ones ages 7,4 and 3. Recently (past year or so) I have been having alot of the associated syptoms of lupus. I was actually tested for it probably 3-4 years ago but the test was in the High but normal range. I haven't had any further tests since. My maternal grandmother suffered from Lupus for about 14 years. I am waiting on my apt with my dr to discuss all the problems I've been having. I have constant nerve pain and numbness, extreme fatigue and pleurisy.. I'm not sure what will show of these tests but i really want answers.

Welcome to the forum Samantha ! :)

You are doing the right thing by getting a thorough health check. The main site has articles on symptoms, diagnosis and tests. I suggest looking at the ACR Classification Criteria list to see what you can relate to already and what blood tests are often done, and also the Alternative Criteria just out of interest. The ANA is a screening test that GPs can do, although not specific to lupus.
If it is significantly positive then other specialised tests are run but often by a rheumatologist. I guess you might be a bit restricted in whom you see. Given that your grandmother had lupus it makes perfect sense to explore that avenue or some autoimmune connective tissue disease but bear in mind that other diseases can have very similar symptoms.
Make sure you get thyroid and anemia tested :)

Keep in touch and let us know how you get on. Ask for advice and help whenever you need it.

Bye for now

Welcome to the Forum Samantha :)

Wow you have your hands full with three little ones! :hehe: Its certainly a good idea to discuss your symptoms with your doctor. Also start keeping a diary (if you dont already) of symptoms as this will be useful if you get a Rheumatology referral.

I wish you the very best of luck with your doctor and please let us know if we can help you in any way in that journey.

Take care
