hi, i am 35 years old and irish and have just found out i have lupus, all the docs have done is given me is cream for the rash, am sore all over and am so tired .just wnted to talk to others who are dealing with lupus because to be honest i do not think the doctors know what to do with me:sad:

I'm Irish too but live over here in Belgium!
When you say you have been diagnosed with lupus, is it SLE (systemic lupus) or DLE (discoid lupus)? I'm just asking as it strikes me as odd that you have only been given cream for your rash You would normally be put on plaquenil, a disease modifying med which can help a great deal both with skin manifestations and other more generalised symptoms.
I know it's not always that easy to find a specialised doc in some areas. Do you see a dermatologist or have you also seen a rheumatologist?

I am also Irish but born and raised in the USA and living in the arm pit of the world.:lol::lol::lol: I plan on coming to Ireland next year for my dream come true vacation. We have a few members here from Ireland too that will be along at some point to welcome you. I am sorry about your diagnosis but glad you found this site. It is a wealth of information and support.
I am curious, like Katharine if you have been diagnosed with SLE or discoid lupus of the skin? It seems to me if you had SLE they would have started you on medicine, not just a cream.
I do hope you can get with a Lupus Specialist/Rheumatologist who is more proactive with your Lupus. The sooner you get on medicine the quicker you will get to feeling better.

Hi Deacon and welcome to the board. It is a great place to find info and support. It must be a shock to be diagnosed with lupus. It can cause to go through a great deal of emotions. Give yourself time to adjust.
I think the first thing to establish is as the other have covered is it SLE or DLE, and are you being given the right treatment. This is so important.
