Hey Guys hope you are all well! Basically this is kind of a rant and kind of a plea for advice! I have been under my Rheumy for over a year now and he is just great! I last saw him at the beginning of Jan and he said to come back in 6-8 weeks. So I have been waiting for an appointment to come in the post ever since...(i had an MRI after last appointment, and am also due to start MEthotrexate at the next appointment-my lupus is quite bad at the moment....so i phoned up again today to find out whats going on with my appointment (due this week or next) and they said i could have one in...JULY!! How ridiculous is that?! I cannot wait that long, my life is on hold at the moment waiting for this appointment...my future at my job is going to be decided in a month and it all relies on the outcome of this appointment!! What on earth am i supposed to do?! So i phoned the private hospital where my Rheumy also works and they say i can see him next week but its going to cost £190 just for the appointment-without injections/meds/extra tests ect! I cant understand how they can make me wait until july for the results of an MRI and to start MTX considering how bad things are at the moment. Does anyone have any advice-I'm going to make a complaint tomorrow but i dont think its going to help. Thanks sorry for the ranting! I'm sooo upset! xxxxxx

Hey Mooks
I think this is totally unacceptable.
Is there a rheumatology specialist nurse at the clinic who you could get to plead your case.
Otherwise ring the consultants secretary as Jane says, perhaps your rhuemie can phone you the MRI results at least. Would you get an earlier apiontment if you saw the registrar (more junior doc) instead.
I've had to wait 4 months instead of three once but six is ridiculous.
Good luck, you might try PALS (patient advocacy service)if all else fails.
