In the near future i will be starting Imuran. I know i have to have my blood tested every 2 weeks and for the first 3 weeks at my hospital. My rheumy said i have to go to the mayo clinic for this.

What is a mayo clinic??

You must Google The Mayo Clinic. For me to tell you about it would be to write a book. In a nutshell it is a world renowned hospital with top notch doctors. Your a lucky person to be living close to a Mayo and get treatment.

I have never heard of a Mayo clinic in the UK ! You need to call her and find out what she meant. I don't know why you need a special place for the blood tests. They are usually just white blood cell count and liver function. There is a more specialised test that's sometimes done before starting the Imuran to get an idea of how effective it might be in a particuar case and there's another specialised test to check how much of the drug is in the blood stream but my regular checks have always been done at the same place as any other lab tests which in the UK is at my local hospital lab. My GPs doesn't take blood as far as I know.
So ask her - it'll be interesting to know what she was talking about
