iron level

466 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  LoopyLoo
just got a phone call from my G.p that my iron level is very low it is 5 and she has given me iron tabs to take
the only reason she knows this is that i have been chassing up my results from the rheumitologist as i need them for going over to london clinic
i saw the rheumitologist a month a go and all she told me then is that my ANA is still up and i have inlarged lylph nodes as per C.t scan
so if i was not chassing up the results no one would have caught this on
so now i guess it is up to me to take on the responsibility of getting better

Hi Alex

Im really glad you picked up on this but you must be mad as heck that you had to be the one to do it

I guess it goes to prove how important it is to take charge of our health and insist on being told everything thats going on. Good luck with your new determination to take responsibility for getting the best healthcare you can.

The very best of luck with your appointment in London also

Luv n stuff

Hope the iron tablets help you. I also want to wish you all the best with your appointment.

Sheila :)
I have been on iron tablets for several years now. Without them I suspect I would be near comatose. The only side effect is constipation but that is minor. We found that even the cheapest over-the-counter iron pills do the job for me. Have they checked your thyroid? I'm sure they have but someone suggested that hypothyroidism and low iron often go together. This may not be true but was for me. I am sure you will feel better with the iron pills!

Hi Alex,

Just wanted to stop by and say that I hope you feel better soon. Is it right that we have to take such responsibility for our own health care? Hmmm.....another debate for another day.

Hugz,
