Hi, I'm sorry to be here again but I wondered if anyone had had this symptom. I know i should go see my GP but visits there seem relentless and unreasuring!
I did mention this symptom on the end of my other thread"Hot Head!!!!" but thought i might get a better response by starting another seeing as it has not gone away!
Well what it is......

I have developed a pain in the front of my neck just left of centre. Its sore to touch and when i move. I dont have a sore throat although my tongue feels a bit thick on the same side.I do have a very slight cold. When i sniff, swallow it feels like the muscles in front of neck contract and cause more pain.

This morning/well during the night i started to feel not too well and face was a bit swollen icluding my eye lids. There is a slight tightness of my jaw but not extreme. Now and again i am getting pain in my abdomen and lower chest/side. Intermittant loose stools, light in colour.
I am more tired again and pain in other muscles/joints have slighty increased but dont know if its all connected.

I was thinking perhaps swollen Glands but i dont know? I am still managing to go to work although operating at a lower level than usual and come home after only 3-4 hrs(Parttimer) and need to sleep.

I'm sorry to bother you all as i know and understand that many of you are suffering much worse than i am and i feel for each and everyone of you! I really do.
Any advice or comments would be most appreciated.

Thank you

Hi Netty -

I've experienced swollen glands when I have been flaring before - in fact the GP initially thought it was glandular fever. My eyelids also swelled up around this time.

I can't speak for your experience, but in my case it was definitely the SLE flaring. At that time, I didn't have a diagnosis of SLE. I know it is tiring going back to the GP all the time, but really was the only thing I could do at the time and I think that you should do the same.

I hope this helps somewhat - I'm sorry that you are feeling so horrible at the moment. Mind yourself -

Hi:

I am so sorry you are still unwell. I am no expert about swollen glands, even after suffering from them too many times to count.

An Infection anywhere in your body may cause glands in the vacinity to enlarge, this is becuse they are producing infection fighting armies. If the infection persists, other glands may join in to allow for a greater production of the fighters.

Now there are 1000's of other reasons glands swell but this is the most common.

You must see your GP first to determine if it is a swollen gland from infection, and if so, to start anti-biotics before things worsen. If it isnt an infection it would be better to figure it out immediately.

I hope you feel better soon.

Feeling worse!

Looks like it will have to be doctors visit any way as i am gradually feeling worse. Neck is now stiff and have go shooting pains up arms and legs! Argggg! Will this never end. If i keep this up i will lose my job and upset alot of very nice people! Cant run a playgroup if i'm not reliable!
Temperature is slightly raised and i feel like a hampster. Still no sore throat though.
I'm wondering if this could be connected to ear infection i had few weeks ago. I got fluid build up behind ear drum and when that cleared without antibiotics it left me with a pulled in ear drum and slightly deaf, also my face went a bit numb on that side. I dont know one thing after another.
I'm sure doctors dont believe me! All they worry about is my high BP.
OK, OK i can now say i am officially feeling sorry for myself!!!!!!

sorry guys Thanks for replies!

Hi Netty

It may not help any but I had this exact same symptom which recurred several times for about three years before I was diagnosed. It felt like someone had a clamp around my throat. My glands were swollen and my throat was very painful -particularly when I moved forward. It wasnt a sore throat as one would normally experience - just lots of pain in the throat area. Make sense?

To my shame I never went to the doctor about it. I just rarely went to the doctors at the time and I just put up with the pain until it resolved and mostly it took a few days.

I never knew if it was related to my final diagnosis of SLE but I have to say that since I have been on treatment I have never once had it re-occur....

I often regretted not going about it as I am convinced now that it was Lupus flaring up. I know how depressing it is to keep turning up at your GP's office and not really getting any answers but I do recall eventually my GP saying at one of my visits 'You have been here an awful lot in the past few months and thats unusual for you. There must be something going on we're not spotting'. Looking back, it was the beginning of me starting to wonder if all these things were connected.

If you go to the docs let us know what he says

Much hugs. Im sorry you are in so much pain. If its the same thing I had, it was absolutely horrible pain and had me in tears and with me pressing my hand against my throat whenever I moved to prevent it leaning forward and hurting more.

Luv n stuff

Netty,
It might be the cold, but would say that you should be getting in to see the doctor. If it is not the cold doing all this than it is something else that does need to be looked into, or it could be the combination of the cold and something going on with you. I know what you are talking about with the doctors though. I called to let them know the on set of upper rep. infection and they told me there was a virus going around to wait 7 days and if i still had it to call back then they would give me something for the upper. My thoughts are in 7 days I will have wished someone to of shot me by then but I am hanging in there and the very next appointment I have the doctor and I are really going to talk. I get this twice a year. Sorry anyway we were talking about you. You need some relief and some answers so i would be making and keeping the doctors appointment. Let us know how it goes please. I hope you are feeling better soon.
