Hi there all, I'm having a bit of a posting fest today...replied to my initally post with the feedback, added one about my referal to St Thomas' & now this one about work!!!

I've always done office/desk jobs but really don't enjoy the enviroment, I worked my way up to managerial status but the pressure, bitching, office politics etc really got me down so I decided to change for a 'non-thinking' & less pressured job. I did have flare-ups when working in these jobs but not to the extent of the flare ups since stopping & getting the driving job.

The thing is I absolutley love the driving job I'm in now, I get the parcels (some heavy & some not) & the delivery notes in the morning...I drive, deliver & don't stress about anything (not even getting stuck in traffic!) then come back to base & do the same in the afternoon. I feel free, I get to see so much beautiful countryside & wildlife driving around kent its wonderful. My stress levels are zero.

However....because its a physical job (the driving an some lifting) I was getting quite tired which was to be expected after working sitting on by butt for 18 years! But then the really exhaustion, aches, headaches, ulcers, rash/leisions on my face flared up a few times & each time it was worse.

I have taken a few days holiday to rest & am back to work Wed next week but am quite aware that it may not be possible to stay in this job if it carries on affecting my health.

I've already had quite a lot of suggestions to how to make this job more bearable (sunglasses, SPF70 cream, sun visors, sun protective clothing, hats from people on here & a lottery win or a really really rich man so I don't have to work from my non-lupus not so helpfull mates!!!) but was just wondering what sort of things I could look at doing if it doesn't work out....

I'm very much a people person (face to face) but don't really like telephone contact. I would love to work with animals (dog behaviourist is my dream but too expensive to do the courses at the mo). I don't like hum-drum as I get bored & will want to move on quickly. I did think about care-work, moving on to social care in the community but was unsure of how much heavy lifting there was (can do poo, wee & sick etc so thats no prob!!).

I'm on a low wage at the mo, so there is no salary to match but I do want to be happy in my work.

I'm afraid of hights so a high-wire is a no-no!! I'm also alergic to pollen, dust and rabbits so a housekeeper in a flowershop that has rabbits running free is also not a good idea! Saying that I'd love to do floristry or other artistic things but I'd just sneeze all the time! I tried dog grooming & was good at it & loved it but sneezed quite a lot, not a good thing with a pair of scissors in your hand!

I know this is a weird question but I just figured that you guys would have been through the what you can't do for work thing & may have some suggestions.

Thanks in advance

Fran

Afraid not, as it wouldn't work sharing the van...I have the van overnight & go home at the end of my round then into work early morning to get parcels for morning round so if someone else was to do the next day the couldn't get the van...if you see what I mean...
