Hello!
I posted in the Introduce Yourself forum but I will introduce myself again. My name is Lisa,I am 34, I am a stay at home Mom to 2 wonderful sons. Lane who will be 11 on the 15th and Lance who is 9. I have a wonderful supporting DH named Darrel to whom I have been married to for 12 years. I just got diagnosed with some for of Lupus. I assume it is SLE. I got a card in the mail saying that my FANA(fluorescent antinuclear antibody) was "mildly positive" :?
I called my DR and all she would tell me was that she is refering me to a rheumy so I am waiting for her to call me with an appt. I am going to ask the rheumy to repeat the FANA because I was on a megadose pack for my bursitis when the first test was done. Could that be why my reults were mildly positive???? :? I am really looking forward to getting to know yall! :)

Hi Limarie,

Welcome to the forum. I wish it didn't have to be under these circumstances. Please feel free to post questions that you have. I would also encourage you to check out the chat room. It is a great place to get instant feedback.

I hope it doesn't take long for you to get your first appointment. Most likely the rheumy will run more tests before making a final diagnosis however it does sound like something autoimmune is going on. I find it best to list all the symptoms you are having no matter how little to take so you don't forget them. Also take photos of any rashes in case they aren't present at the time of the appointment. Make a list of questions listing the most important first. In my experience doctors don't have enough time to really address all the questions you have.

Good luck with your appointment.

Take care,
Lazylegs

Thanks Lazylegs. I am sooooooo confused. I am hearing from some people on this board that just beacuse my FANA came back positive doesn't mean that I have Lupus (which I totally understand) I know there are such things as false positives. But I really think that because I was on prednisolone that, that is why I got a mild positive. That is why I plan on having the rheumy run the test again since the steroids have been out of my system for a couple weeks now. Maybe I will get a clearer picture from the rheumy. I hope!!!! But my DR's nurse told me that my DR said that my test results indicated that I have a mild case of Lupus. She didn't indicate wich kind. I assume SLE because I do not have the skin problems that are associated with DLE. I guess I will find out when the rheumy gets me an appt. Whenever that will be :wink2:
I failed to mention that I am currently seeing a retinal specialist because I have chorioretinitis. Which is inflamation of the retina. Which is caused by an auto immune disorder. I have been tested for RA twice and it came back negative both times. So you are right something auto immune is definatley going on.

Howdy,
So glad to have you join our forum; so sorry you are sick enough to want to join our forum.
I note you are from SE Missouri. Our daughter, her husband and our only grandchild live near Springfield. You live in a lovely part of the world.
I hope you will find the medical help you need.
Chin up!
