hi all

just wondering about this one.......my knees are getting stuck, more my right one after sitting for say 1/2 hour or more. I go to get up and cannot. At work I sat for a few hours doing computer work, so I was holding the urine....then went to get up and couldn't. Pain in the knee and it was stuck. Could not straighten it out. So I had to sit there for about 45 minutes working at it to straighten it almost losing urnine in my chair. I won't hold it now and will go right away in case it keeps happening. But the knees are stiff to bend, I don't notice any severe swelling or redness but they feel very tight and that pain when it gets stuck is just aweful.

Hope you are all ok and sending good wishes and prayers your way.

I have experienced what you're describing many times, both knees at the same time though. I had to force both of them back into place, one at a time, which was very painful while I was doing it but I had immediate relief once it was done. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS unless you know your body very well and have learned you can trust your own judgement about your body. I learned after a few incidents that I could no longer sit in the positions that led to my knees locking up. Because it happens while you're sitting at your desk at work, you'll have to be very creative to find possible solutions. Some ideas: elevate your feet on something like a stool or a stack of books, get a special chair, stand up to stretch and/or march in place every few minutes, wrap your knees with something to stabilize them and help them stay warm. If these solutions don't work or you don't feel you can even risk trying them, ask your physician for a referral to a physical therapist or related specialist.

Best wishes -

Hi Paula,

When the muscles above or below my knees stay toned instead of being relaxed the same thing will happen to me. The knees feel super tight and even if someone tries to help me up they stay bent. Sometimes a little massage or heat help relax the muscle and I can move again. I wonder if the same thing is happening to you.

If it happens too often you should mention it to your doctor at your next visit.

Take care,
Lazylegs

I drive a car with gears/stick shift and notice that my left knee is the same but it only started when I began again to work in an office. When first ill, neither of the knees would bend and I needed two sticks and shuffled :(

If you can get up for a minute or so ever half an hr. Nothing but helps this for me but I know the pain is unbearable

Paula,
You are right it is very painful. I get this anytime I am still for too long, whether it be standing or sitting or laying. I have had to wearing a pad just for the reason you found out, if you can't make it to the bathroom or can't get up for sometime. It does not make me happy to wear it by no means but is much better than being in my 40's and wetting my chair or bed lol. I know it is no laughing matter because it is painfull and frustrating both at the same time. Like you it is more my right knee than the left but it does happen in both knees. I have had it hurt so bad that it wakes me up at night because I have not moved enough and I am crying from the pain it causes sometimes. I am not sure what it is from and no one other than me seems to care that it happens, so I live with it. I hope you are feeling well and doing good.
