Hi all,
My lupus attacked my heart a few times last year. I ended up seeing one of the best heart specialists but he doesn't understand the link between lupus and hearts!
Does anyone know of a good NHS or private heart specialist who is also well versed with lupus who is based in London or Surrey?
Thanks
Duncan

Might be able to help!

Hello Duncan,
Might be able to help you there I hope. I went to The Lupus Centre, London Bridge Hospital end of last year following diagnosis of MCTD and met with Consultant Rheumatologist Dr Kaul, who specialises in Heart Disease. He would be a good point of contact as he was very Lupus and heart interested, obviously.
To see him privately is around £200, though he does work out of an NHS hospital too but I can't remember which one off the top of my head.

Give them a ring and get your information.

Best wishes,

Claire

Claire,
I emailed Dr Kaul at The Lupus Centre and he replied immediately. He says he doesn't deal with hearts as he's just a rheumatologist! So if you're seeing him privately for your heart, I'd consider seeing someone else!

I recommend a Dr Lythall who works in Canterbury Kent and also London. He's a consultant cardiologist. Very approachable, knows about lupus and aps. I have seen him on a number of occasions - definitely worth an email to see if he'd be interested in your case

hope you get on ok

oh!!

Hiya Duncan,
When I went to see Dr. K, I knew he was a rheumy but he said his main interest was cardiology within that remit..hence advising me to protect my heart, reduce caffeine etc etc... sorry that wasn't that helpful then! He certainly led me to believe that was his area....I didn't go for my heart but for a second opinion ref MCTD... luckily!! :rotfl:
