Hi Everyone,

Some of you know I no longer have a stomach due to a total removal of it last July 2007 due to un curable ulcer disease. To this day I still have no clear cut answers as to why I am plagued with this ulcers.

Anyway, they are back with a vengeance so I am getting ready to leave for another scope down the throat and biopsy. This is the 6th or 7th one in 2 years.

I am angry and just frustrated. How do you find a cure without a clear cut answer???

Wish me luck please.

Hi Karol,

Yes, best of luck to you, for your scope, today. I hope they can find a reason, for all your suffering, Karol.

I will have you on my mind today.

Love,
Sandy

Thanks Sandy. I wanted to jump on quickly to up date that in fact I do have many ulcers back. My GI doctor wants me to stop Plaquenil and blood thinners too.

She put a phone call in to my Rheumy to discuss IV drugs for all of my AI issues as my GI system, and lack of a stomach just can't handle oral medicines.

Gee, does it get any better???:mad::mad:

I do not know what my options will be moving forward and will wait to hear from my Rheumatoloigst by phone.

When he prescribed these meds he did mention that if I had any flares of GI issues in the future then we would discuss other measures but not to worry about crossing that bridge until we had to........and now we have to.:worried:

I am going to go sleep off the anesthesia and hopefully wake up feeling ok.

Karol,
I am sorry to hear about your ulcers. I hope you get a well deserved rest today. Thanks for caring about my troubles, while you were going through troubles of your own. I will take the advice you gave me to my doctor when I see him.
Thanks Again,
Mary Ann

Hi Karol,

Sorry to hear your GI problems did indeed reappear. Hopefully the doctors can come to some consensus as to the best way to proceed from here on out.

Take care,

Hi Karol, what a blow :(

Hopefully they will get things organised for you very soon, so you aren't left without treatment.

Just wanted to mention that before they even look at things like the big guns, it's possible to have Imuran through an IV (quick infusion over 5 mins I think?) and as you probably already know Methotrexate can be given by injection. Imuran may be a good fit for your current problems though, so do let us know what they decide.

sending hugs,

love

Hi Karol

Im very sorry to hear about this new development. I dont blame you for being angry and frustrated :worried:

How are you feeling after the anaesthetic? I hope you have an urgent appointment with your Rheumy to discuss your options?

Many hugs Karol.  You have an awful lot to contend with and it must seem terribly unfair at times.

Luv n stuff

Karol:hug: What a bummer!:(

I hope this doesn't mean you have to go onto the heavy meds like Cytoxan that are usually given IV but are used only when absolutely necessary.

I have the notion that almost any drug can be made into an injectable form by a compounding pharmacist.

Many hugs
Clare

Thank you all for your well wishes. My Rheumatoloigst called today and he told me to stop the blood thinners and do not take aspirin BUT he wants me to continue the Plaquenil.

He said he will be calling my GI doctor first thing Monday morning so that he can have a better understanding of all of my previous GI issues leading up to present.

He also suggested that although I love my GI doctor that it is time to move on to bigger and better GI specialist, one that may be very experienced in AI issues along with GI issues. He is going to get a name for me and let me know early next week.

I told him that I am all for another doctor........for the love of God ANYONE who can find a answer so it leads to a cure, or at least the correct medicine to keep it at bay.

I am in bad shape right now. I am throwing up so much and this has never happened before. I am having a hard time even keeping water down. If this does not end I will be forced to call my GI doctor first thing Monday and then I know it will be a admittance to the local hospital for IV fluids. I am only going to dehydrate worse if I continue down this road not to mention I can not afford to loose any more weight.

So, I welcome quiet and quick prayers that tomorrow finds me a little better or at best able to sip water and keep it in me. The pain and sickness is almost to much for me to continue to bear. This nightmare started for me on our Thanksgiving holiday.....10 days ago........and there seems to be no end in sight!:worried::worried::worried:

I love you all and appreciate your support. You like my extended family!:wink2:

Dear Karol

I am hoping and praying that tomorrow brings improvement for you. You sound absolutely miserable and scared :hugbetter: I hope you can avoid hospital admittance.

Is there someone at home keeping an eye on you and helping out? Please let us know how you are.

Much love, prayers and strength

Sending you many positive thoughts, well wishes and prayers that you start to get better soon, that you get a great new GI doctor with some fresh new ideas that will help, and that you are able to stay out of the hospital or will have a brief stay that helps immensely.

You really have my deepest sympathy on your condition - I only can compare my bouts with the stomach flu and rotavirus in the last 3.5 years to what you're going through and those memories of those days still give me the chills to think about. I can't imagine that kind of thing going on for more than 2 weeks - I'm amazed you've stayed out of the hospital so far actually.

I pray that as this started again on Thankgiving that you will have hope, answers and relief by Christmas.

I hope that you feel more settled in your self so very quickly so that you can take in more than water and get your strength up again and whatever happens know that you have your Lupie family standing by you.

God Bless
K

I am so sorry you weren't feeling so well but glad that you are feeling a little better and sipping water. Hydration is a must, even if just a little at a time.

I hope that you will feel better tomorrow. Rest up and sending hugs.
