Hi my name is Mindy and I am 30 years old with 2 kids 8 and 5 months. My situation is last summer I started experiencing brain fog and sometimes speech problems. In November I started to have MS like sx. Tingly, pins and needles, burning sensation. Had a MRI and nothing. I finally am now starting to feel a little better. My PCP was thinking MS but just the other day I saw a thromb...(sp) broken red blood vessels on my thigh. One spot not too big. So he took blood and is checking for Lupus.

I havent received the results. He tested me just a couple weeks ago for other things...my liver, kidney, B12 all fine. Feb 5th I'm going to see a MS specialist and I will ask her to test for Hughes Syndrome if she will.

I would like to get to know others. Please post age, what your dx is and how long.

Thank you
Mindy

Sounds like you have an excellent GP - I'm impressed at least!
Your GP could order the APS/Hughes related antibodies as well.

Have you had any other problems typical of APS/Hughes such as miscarriage? Migraine type headaches? If not, then it is less likely
that Hughes would be responsible for your symptoms but hopefully
it would be checked out to be sure.

I hope the MS doc appt will go well - was the MRI you had with contrast? Those are best at detecting MS, lupus, etc. brain issues.

Another thing to consider is tick borne illness - they frequently can
present with MS type symptoms and lupus symptoms.

Good luck - let us know how it goes.

Hi , Mindy, I am sorry to say this, but, I don't see where you have a lot,of symptoms of MS or Lupus. I don't know about MS, but, for Lupus there is no one blood test that can positivaly, say that you have Lupus or not. Getting a DX is much more complicated than that, and takes what seems like forever to get. I know this is not what you wanted to hear, and for that I am sorry, but from the info in your post, that is about all I can tell you. Do let us know how things age going for you after yopur MS test.:wink2:

thanks

I did have one miscarriage when I was 19. I am experiencing more problems then what I had put down. Memory loss, speech problems, my hair has been all over the house. I dont know if the hair thing is from me having a baby 6 months ago but I have noticed since November that it is all over. I just dont feel right and I am going to ask the dr to run tests.

Thanks for your support and I will keep you updated!

Hi mindy and Welcome :welcome:

I'm wondering if your GP has tested you for underactive thyroid? Some of your problems such as the brain fog, hair loss and the pins/needles etc. are symptoms of that.

Good luck with your Neuro appt :luck:

love
Lily
