Long story, but will give the short version. Had first baby Jan 29th by emergency C-sec 4 weeks early due to preeclampcia. Felt great for 8 weeks and since then have been exteremely fatiugued, unable to sleep well, joint pain, whole body muscle soreness in the morning (eases a bit through the day, but still can feel it), positive ANA test 3 weeks ago, and referred to a rheumatologist who can see me December 1st.

Had my daughter baptized over the weekend and was shocked to see this rash on my face. I've always had "rosy" cheeks, but am now wondering if this red flushing rash is a malar rash or possibly related to lupus? Please feel free to comment. These were taken this morning. I was shocked at how obvious they are. I also went back and looked at other pics taken of me during the last few months and the rash is there and more obvious on days/times when I was feeling really crappy. It is in all the pics, but is really obvious when I was having a bad spell.

heya, sorry to hear you have been feeling so rough!! I'd definately take some of these pics with you when you see your rheumatologist in dec, especially incase it has gone down or is not as bad when you see him/her. It could very possibly help towards a diagnoses. Shame you have to wait so long but i'm sure it will fly by with a lovely baby and christmas to prepare for!! xxx

It does look like a lupus malar rash, but the only way to tell for sure is through biopsy which is rarely done if there are enough other symptoms and blood test results to diagnosis lupus. I hope you have a good rheumy appointment and I second the advice to take these pictures with you on the day of the appointment.

December 1 feels like a long time away I'm sure... so frustrating to take so long to get into see a specialist. Occasionally, there can be cancellations so you could ask to be on a cancellation list and maybe you can get in sooner.

I must ask if you have a palomino Morgan? I'm a horse lover too if so!

I will be sure to bring the pictures. I was just amazed at how obvious they were in the baptism pictures. Guess not sleeping for two nights is a bit stressful to the body. *sigh*

And yes... I have a palomino morgan (and a chestnut quarter horse.) I'll add pics to my album under my profile if you want to see them. I have hardly ridden at all for two years because of the pregnancy and now feeling dead tired all this year.
