Hi new here
had ana test 1.80 febuary.

my rheumatolagist repeated that and done whats called
Lupus serology.

i was in such shock didnt think to ask what it is,try looking it up says blood tests.
but complex stuff i felt.

had inflammatory arthritis since age 18 and diagnsoed sero negative ra last febuary.
my consultant after 1 year treating me says feels might have lupus,my father has it and i developed enw symptoms including butterfly rash.
photo sensitive etc.

apreciate basic info im still in shock so anything to much deatil i clam up lol.

Most typically this means he is running the ENA's (Extractable Nuclear Antigens which include SSA, SSB, RNP, etc.), and probably DsDNA and Smith as those are the two most specific antibodies for lupus. It's hard to say for sure what all is included but that will give you some idea; I would take that term to mean he's testing the blood for auto-antibodies that are commonly found to be positive in lupus patients but hard to say exactly which ones are included.

yes id seen this site when doing research,bit easier to understand 2 nd time round.

thank u for all replies.

so gp did test anti -ro and anti-la were negative.
anti nuclear was low postive asked for further investigations but gp had no clue what to do.
she faxed it and all recent bloods plus symptoms list to my rheumy.

he got his doc to do through heart,lung examination,skin,symtpoms and famil history again.
butterlfy rash consant now for 5 months and slight before that.

so my specialist has re done

and think said doing ena and something else plus rf factor,anti ccp.
letter just said lupus serology.


would it be good diea to let rheumy nurse know my dad has got his diagnosis and given details to me he has DLE,high blood pressure.

he was diagnosed via a skin biopsy.

mine is diferent in joint pain,chest pain ect,butterlfy rash he had patches then red face,neck.

thanks again for help little clearer rest my specialist will have to explain gp hasnt a clue.
