I have an SOS Talisman, this comes with a slip of paper inside it that you add all your details to.
They also come in necklace & bracelet form, same as the medi alert ones.
Try a google search of it. they are a tad cheaper too lol.

Hi JellyJazz

I went online to the medic alert foundation. You purchase either a bracelet type or necklace type pendent. they engrave a membership number and the phone number on it with your condition and if you want any allergies. With this you get a card for your wallet with the same info but with Meds and your GP. If necessary the paramedics can phone then phone the number on the bracelet give the membership number and they will give details like next of kin, meds, and other information that they keep on file. If you want any more info you can private message me.

Hope this helps

Claire
PS I have a bracelet and have had it for about a year. I think they are a great idea. It was started by a Dr who's daughter was given adrealine after a reaction to a sting and then had a severe anaphalactic reaction the the adrenaline (aparently).

If you get a recognised alert bracelet, such as the medic alert bracelet, then your doctor will decide what is medically important for you to have on your bracelet, so you don't need to start guessing yourself. With the reputable systems, you need a doctors letter (usually there is a form to fill out) so get hold of the form and take it to your doctor. I am sure you can download it from the medic alert foundation site (I got my bracelet about 30 years ago so I had to rely on telephones and snail mail).

Hi guys - thanks for this info. The medic alert does seem quite expensive but i guess you can't put a price on life. My Dad came across this site which is a bit more affordable to us:

http://www.medicaltags.co.uk/engraved-medical-tags.html

We were thinking of using this site as it still uses the recgnised medic alert symbol.
