i have moles on my body but they have been there for a long time. i showed them to the gp and said they were fine as long as they dont grow or change shapes.

im kind of worried about these new ones because it weird that its in the same spot on each side of my legs. i know i should go see a dermotologist but just wanted to know if anybody here has these. thank you and sorry for posting so much.:blush::blush:

(((((((((((sushi))))))))))) what meds are you on for your anxiety these days and are you taking them regularly? :( You really must try that cognitive behaviour therapy suggested to try and stop obsessing about all these little things. Your doc has reassured you which is the same as we would do, but it seems like you still find other things to worry about :( each and every day :( ((((((((((lydia)))))))))

Maybe whatever med you are on is not sufficient, there might be a better one out there to replace it? I would most certainly talk to your GP about this. It really must create more problems for you then you need to deal with and you should be sound asleep by now not worrying about little things like this so late at night :(

I don't say all this to be unkind but I am sure that you understand it is out of concern........... seeing you in this state day after day, month after month with no resolution in sight :hugbetter:

sending hugs,

love

Hey (((((((Lydia))))))) :hugbetter:

I'm so sorry you're having to deal with such crippling anxiety.... It really must be very difficult... :(

I think Lily is 100% right... You could really benefit from talking to a therapist or changing your anxiety/depression meds... Having cognitive behaviour therapy sounds like a great idea too and CBT usually has wonderful results as far as anxiety or phobias are concerned! :)

Your GP told you what any doctor would at this point.... New moles are not dangerous unless they start growing in an irregular way or change shape! The fact that they're on the same position on each thigh does not make them dangerous in any way! :)

Sending loads of strengthening hugs your way :grouphug2: :grhug:

superdrug/mole clinic

Hiya, I wanted to say hello, its hard being a worrier. GPs are usually pretty good with moles, however if you are UK based I know that superdrug do mole clinics as do alot of private hospitals but obviously it will cost you money.

I hope you feel less anxious about things soon generally. :)

Hi Sushi,

I have lots of moles - all over - and not one has been cancerous or troublesome yet. Your GP is spot on... they are only *potentially* problem moles if they meet any of the ABCDE criteria:

A=asymmetry
B=border irregularities blurry or jagged edges
C=color changes over time
D=diameter (bigger than a pencil eraser should be looked at by a doctor)
E=elevation

Please note that I have moles that actually *do* meet some of these warning signs and they have all been fine. This is the kind of thing to bring up to your GP to assess at a yearly physical, or sooner if there are sudden and obvious/dramatic changes to an existing mole.

I hope you can find a way to be reassured by us, and by having your GP tell you not to worry as well. If not, then it may be time to reassess treatment for an anxiety problem. Life is so much better when living with less worry...

Lily, when i read your post i started crying. not because i thought you were being unkind. (which i dont think that at all) but because you are 100% right.

i dont know how to deal with my anxiety. i went to see a therapist which on the first visit they take notes and get to know you.

when i left the office i didnt make an appt. because i thought that i might be bothering my husband to take me here and there all the time.

so i thought to myself maybe if i just take the anxiety pills i will be ok in time.
but now i do realize that thats not the case. i really do need to see a therapist. every symptom i get i think its going to be a disaster.

thankyou all for being so honest with me. i havent started the anxiety meds but i know that i must. thank you once again this site means so much to me.:)

Sushi,

Just wanted to say I understand how you feel. I get anxiety alot myself. My heart goes out to you, I hope it gets better for you.

My friend has melanoma, and I have been obsessed with worrying about him and that makes my anxiety even worse.

If you watch the moles and they don't change then I think you have nothing to worry about, but if they change in any way, get a dermatologist to look at them asap. My personal opinion is that people with moles should get them checked by a dermo just to be safe. I wish my friend had went to a dermo alot sooner than he did. I hope this doesn't make you worry more, just keep an eye on them.

Sending you lots of love,
Mary

Hello sushi

You said you were going to start the Lexapro on Monday. Today is Thursday. I am sure your husband will do all he can to help you so don't you decide for him what he is willing or able to do. Tell him you plan to start the medicine and ask him to remind you., even make sure you do take it !
I have told you that I know how horrible it is to live with such anxiety.
Mine takes a slightly different form - I think I have done something wrong such as transferring money to the wrong account, or when I go out I am convinced I have left something on, like an iron or a pan on the hob, and have to go back to check it out.

Such intense anxiety can be crippling and have all sorts of knock on effects on physical health too. Getting all the help you can is as much a medical necessity as getting an appendix or gall bladder out

Ask your husband when he could take you to the therapist - you're lucky to have the opportunity.

I will be keeping an eye out and trust you will post about starting the medicine and making that appointment ! So please take things in hand.

Many Hugs :)
Clare
