Needle Biopsy

443 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  ROSJAC
HI, Among everything else i am dealing with, now I must have a needle biopsy done on my thyroid. An ultra-sound showed a nodule. I will have this done on March17. I have had several invasive procedures done over the years, but this one is causing me great anxiety. There is just something about having a needle placed into my neck that is bothering me. I know I am probably being silly over this one and putting more stress on myself. Has anyone else been in this situation and if so, what can I expect. Thank you for sharing, Rose

Rose,
I have not had a needle in my neck but I did have a biospy just below and off to the side of the spine at the base of the neck area. I know the feelings you are having as mine all flooded in with only a short time to deal with them. You should call the doctors office and speak with the nurse and ask if it would be possible to come by and have it all explained to you and shown what they are going to do it might help some. It will not change that they have to put the needle in your neck but at least you will know what it is they are doing. With me they deaden the area with a local, then used a small knife to cut out parts of the leisions, and then put a stitch in each hole. This all sounds bad but all in all was not to bad. Let us know how it goes and what they find out please, and know you will have all of us with you in thought you are not alone. I hope you feel better soon.
