hi
just wanted to know if prednisone can make ana become negative.
what would you call a pattern of 1:80 the first time and then negative the second time??

Yes Prednisone can make an ANA negative and so can other treatments. It might also go negative and vary of its own accord or some other reason

ANA isn't usually reckoned an indicator of disease activity though. If there are still other signs of active disease a negative ANA might not mean much.
It all depends on the circumstances.

If symptoms are much improved in addition to a negative ANA, then that's a very good sign. It's possible there never was an autoimmune condition responsible for it, or that the treatment has worked for now.

If the symptoms are not much improved, then it doesn't say very much. There are more than a few doctors however, that will take this as a sign that there is no autoimmune disease even though they should know better!
