Just got back from seeing my new GP, he was lovely (he reminds me of Adrian Childs off the One Show  ) He's doing a full blood panel next week and given me a prescription for some better pain killers (I'm constipated cause of paracetemol and codine but it's the only thing that even vaguely touches the pain). Told me to go get an eye test too, off for that in an hour.

Makes a difference to see someone who's sympathetic and listens and wants to give you information! And I only rang for an appointment this morning, and was seen half an hour ago. Really pleased I made the switch, it was the right thing to do.

That's great news Ali - a good GP does make all the difference - I went to see mine yesterday as I was afraid that calling the rheumy was going to take forever before she got back to me etc. He was great. He's the type to read up if he doesn't know, one of life's constantly curious people.

hugs,
Katharine

Good move then Ali! Your records will be transferred soon won't they? It sounds like this new GP will certainly be more accessible, helpful and hopefully willing to 'learn' ;)

love

Records should be transferred soon - I think they can access some of them on a computer system anyway. He was really easy to talk to and seemed like a really nice man. When I got there I saw a couple of them come and go and I was thinking I hope he's my GP cause he seemed so nice :) And the reception staff were really helpful and nice too. So glad I moved, I feel a little more settled now.

Ali,
That is great news, and I do hope that things do work out for both of you. It sounds like you found a good doctor keep ahold of him lol. Hid advise is right on the money. Keep us updated on how things are going with you. It's always nice to hear something good. I hope you feel better soon.

Well done Ali :)
On the last thread about this we posted simultaneously and when I read all your reasons for wanting to change I realised it was not only a good idea but essential. I am so glad you had the option since it is more or less impossible for some people to change GPs, and that it has worked out so well and not a "frying pan into the fire" move. It would be hard to find much worse than the old one (or we have to hope that it would be !).
Here's to much better health before long. It is true - having good doctors makes a huge difference and in the UK a good GP is especially important as it is usually very hard to access the specialists outside of infrequent appointments

All the best
