It been a rollercoaster of high and lows over the past 15 years. Doctors have suspected Lupus but it only appear during pregnancy, so no one wanted to label me, and I don't think I wanted to either. But this past 2 years have just been crazy, I've just not been myself tired, random rash due to the sun, and just really foggy headed. Once the fatige kick in I just could not take it. I work full time my kids play sport, I am on the go all week long. So when i just could not drag myself out of bed I knew that is was time to see the Doctor. So i went to my primary care who ran a bunch of blood work, and stated that I had active inflammation going on, but wanted me to go to a rheum. who took one look at my labs and said yes you have Lupus i was happy and said at the same time really said. 15 years ago when I first heard the phrase you have lupus to hear a year later not you don't. I just have a lot of mixed emotions. My kids have never seen me really sick, to the point of needing to go to the hospital, I just pray it does not get to that point.

But I am glad that i found this site, thank God for the internet. 15 years ago i felt like one person on a large island by myself.

Blckberry,

Sorry about your diagnosis but you have found a great place to come and hang out for support and information.

Go buy the book....."The Lupus Book" by Dr. Daniel Wallace. A great read and must have for newly diagnosed and it is written in laymans terms for us to understand.

Hope to get to know you better. Nice to chat with you in the chat room tonight. Be well, stay strong.

Hello Blkberry and welcome :)

I'm glad that you have finally got a diagnosis though I can truly understand any mixed feelings you may have over that.

Have you been started on any treatment? Hopefully after 15 years of "managing" your symptoms won't be too difficult to control once medication kicks in.

hugs

My Rhem started me on plaquenil, so I am still battling a lot of fatigue. I'm still able to work, but it really wierd because everyone can kinda tell that there something wrong with me:? 1 I am a litte depressed I think, and 2 I am completly tired all the time which is opposite of my personality. As for how I been able to cope in the past 15 year it been up and down I've been on steriods twice during pregnancy(kidney started to fail, along with protien cause heart damage to my unborn child) however they did not want to call it Lupus since I only became sick during a pregnancy. I have joint pain for years so I just taken aleve, or advil to treat the pain. This is my first bout of fatigue that I can recall. I can deal with pain, but the being tired is what's really drivng me crazy.

Thank everyone for you kind words...:rotfl:

Nicole, You probably know this already but the sun can make all your symptoms worse, not just the rash. You really need to protect yourself from it if you aren't already doing this. It can make a big difference.
