Just getting used to the eviction letter and trying to sort things out when my daughter's test results came back this morning.
Thankfully most of them are negative - FBC, CRP, Coeliac, U&Es, liver function along with a number of auto antibodies.

However her ANA is positive. The Doc has written that it can be a frequent finding in the normal population, but I have noticed that she suffers from similar symptoms to me, which was why they tested her in the first place.
Now my minds compleatly in overdrive. Not only am I worried that she might have lupus, but I am also worried that they won't take it seriously as her paediatrician is at the same hospital as my original Rhummy who told me none of my symptoms fit with Lupus.
The Doc is seeing her again next month, Although I think I might have exploded by then!!!

Hi Elle... the difference this time is that she has a knowledgeable person behind her backing her... try and chill and take one step at a time. Worry is so easy to do, so negative an emotion though..takes up loads of energy and rarely affects the outcome. There were alot of positives in her blood results... just sets minds racing when they start taking autoimmunity!! I wish you all the best.. and take care of yourself!!

How old is your daughter? My daughter at age 16 (well basically for a couple of years around that) had the butterfly rash, low white cell count, pleuritis, livedo reticularis, raynauds plus a one time positive ANA. My lupie doc ran a ton of tests and spent a lot of time with her. Her further testing came back negative and I am relieved to say it all settled down. He did say any further probs then come straight back which was reassuring. Thankfully there have been no further probs and everything settled down, and that was 6 years ago. So we are mindful of it but hopeful that somehow her immune system sorted itself out.

I hope things are ok with your daughter, but if not then be reassured that at least you have knowledge of the disease and the correct testing and are probably much more informed about it and aware than most Mums.

Thanks Lily and Claire, I'm feeling much better now. You are both so right, she has got me and I have got all you guys and I guess between us all we must know nearly all there is to know.

Lily, Bradie will be 7 in september. I'm so glad to hear that your daughter has no further problems. It's so worrying to watch children have to go through any illness.

Oh, only 7 ... I can imagine how you feel, elle. You have to be strong now to get your daughter throught the tests and the hard time she may have. Think positive and maybe things aren't that bad in the end.

Dear Elle,
Dr. D'Cruz says many Daughters of Lupus Mums have positive ANA without disease. I hope this reassures you. My Daughter has Lupus though and she manages pretty well. It is not the end of the world although it would be an awful pity for a seven year old. Try not to go mad based on the ANA though.
