It's Pancake day today and I was wondering how you ate yours??? I am a bit boring this year as I haven't really thought about it in advance it sort of snook up on me... So I will be having mine with plain old sugar!!!

Yummmmm, pancakes, I have them any and every way possible.

I love simple sugar and lemon juice. Then there's the "crepe normande" with apples and calvados (ice cream optional), then there's "mikado" with chocolate and cream (or ice cream).... the list is endless, so long as it's a pancake!!!

Sorry for all the French names :hehe:

Hello Sally

We are talking 'crepes' :)

I like mine with soft brown sugar or even dark moist, with lemon juice, or blackcurrant jam which is what I had yesterday. I also like a la Normande, with apple and calvados.
On the savoury side, you can use up left over chicken in a white sauce or a tuna mix filling is good too.

This is all we have left in the UK of the traditional carnival time before Lent with its fasting, carnival meaning "bye bye meat".

:)

outshone by a teenager

Hiya Claire, actually it was a competition between my hubby and my 16 yr old daughter... and my daughter won; I was judge (good position that was!)
She just added a little grand marnier to the pan at the start and then added pancake mix when it started solidifying round edge sprinkled a little more GM on the top(uncooked side) and then transferred (when turning )to another pan with some Grand Marnier in until cooked then drizzled a little more on at end of cooking simple but effective! :wink2: Mark tried adding as cooking and that didn't really carry the taste to the plate... nor the effect! Actually we only had a very small amount of GM left so although it sounds like I had copious amounts it really wasn't very much!!! Just like to point that out :rotfl:

I'm late on this...

But wanted to jump in anyways, I love pancakes!

I freeze peaches in the summer when they are in season, and love love love eating them with fluffy pancakes all winter, they taste of summer even when it's minus 30!

I know this isn't a pancake but in the same family, I think.;)

A new restaurant opened up in our town. I found a very yummy treat. It is called Eskimo Belgium Waffle. They put a big scoop of vanilla ice cream in the middle and then top it with fresh strawberries.:eat: It doesn't need the syrup on it.

I love them with fruit topping..peach, cherry, and all berries. Boysenberries are my favorite. :)

I am getting hungry just thinking of pancakes..

They are also soooooo delicious with chopped pecans stirred into the batter and topped with maple syrup.

Fun post!

Love,
Sandy
