Hi all, The last few weeks have been tough..I feel like I am going thru my worst flare ever and now I am the guest of honor at my own pity party!! As some of you are aware, I am having a thyroid biopsy Mar. 17, and am having anxiety. I went to see my Gastro. MD. on Monday. I asked him to recommend a med. to help with the pain. I have taken them all including Naproxen Tramadol, Etodolac etc., to try to control inflammation. They all effect my stomach and cause even more discomfort. He said all I can take is Tylenol to help control pain. Also, my Cardio. put me on low dose aspirin and my Gastro. says this will eventually lead to an ulcer. PLEASE, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you dear friends, Rosie

hey Rosie,

Sorry to hear you are feeling so rubbish i totally understand how you feel. :( Are you on something to protect your tummy from the meds like omeprazole or esomeprazole (nexium). I think most of us who have to take long term NSAIDS are due to the risk of ulcers. xxxxxxxxx

Hi Rosie,
Well, as I am also newbie here, don't know that I can help much...however, I am not new to pain...with my diagnosis in '03 of Chronic Interstitial Cystitis (IC), I eventually was referred to a pain mgmt Dr. I don't know if you already have one, but maybe that would be an option...I know I have a lot of stomach problems...have for most of my life...and it sure is not fun...and the anxiety just makes everything else worse, eh?...I also know that some anti-depressants are used for pain mgmt. sometimes at lower doses than for depression/anxiety...I would just check with your Dr. I know you already have a lot on your plate, with the upcoming tests to boot...sending you warm, healing thoughts...

Rosie,
Is it joint pain? If it is than try some of the my very loved things like a nice long hot soak in the tub. Some heat from a heating pad or the creams like icy hot. If it is not the joint then I am not sure if I can be of any help. Have you tried the herbal shelf to see if they have a natural pain killer that might not cause you so much trouble in the long run and give you some relief for now at least. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Rosie,

Poor you :hugbetter: I guess what advice we try and give will be influenced by the type and location of your pain really as Tammy has said.

If worst comes to worse though yes we can take a stomach protector (I know another med!) but if it gives you some quality of life then it's worth it I reckon.

love
Lily

:(Hi ROSJAC! I'm also from IL. (Northwest suburbs of Chicago). I've been having alot of joint pain. (Is that the pain you have?) I'm on Methotrexate, but that doesn't seem to be helping anymore. Think my rheumy will put me on some other med for RA when I see him this month. Have you tried Motrin? I think that helps more than Tylenol.Cathy Hop-e to see you in chat some time.

Hello everyone, Sorry I was so vague about my pain. It is in my spine and neck.I take Prevacid for my stomach. I used Joint Ritis for years and it helped but it is no longer available in my area. The other rubs do not seem as effective. My main meds are Cellcept for SLE and Klonopin for depression. (To Sunflower, I live about 40 miles from Springfield) Thanks for all responses, Rosie
