Hey everyone

My cousin text me today with some not great news. Her ex mother in law who she is really close to is now very ill. She has always been very close to this lady who has always put her family and everyone else before herself, infact most people didn't know she was even ill.

I have known for some time that she has been battling cancer it started as breast cancer but has now metastasised to the bone. My cousin contacted me at the weekend to say she had been taken into a hospice to "give her family a break". I had this horrid feeling.

Anyway my cousin has just text me as her son was due to visit her today, but his grandfather said it would not be a good idea. She now has pneumonia and is being assisted with her breathing. I don't want to sound negative but this doesn't sound great.

What I can't understand is why such a wonderful, caring, amazing woman has to suffer so much. She is on morphine for pain which I suppose is a blessing. I know that she will fight hard, but how much more fighting should she have to do.

We, my cousin and I would be so grateful if you could send some thoughts and prayers for this special lady and her family.

Thanks

Claire xx

Dear Claire

Please be reassured that if she is in hospice care then her suffering will be minimal or non existent. Thats the whole point of hospice care - to minimise the suffering of those who are terminally ill.

The one thing that unites us all as human beings is that we have to leave this world at some stage and we can all only pray that we dont have to suffer during this process.

I hope to goodness that this lovely woman leaves this earth with dignity, pride and no pain. My thoughts are with you all through this difficult time. I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers over the coming days. She will be sorely missed by all who loved her.

Much love to you

Thanks everyone for your kind words, Joan I totally understand about hospice care and probably for the first time since her diagnosis she is being well and truly looked after, but I would assume she will be busy worrying about her family. My concern is that her care and strong bond with her family will keep her hanging on to life and further suffering.
I just hope that if is she is to be taken it is sooner so that this lovely lady and her family do not have to endure and long and undignified passing.

Thanks again

Claire

Just to let you all know that She is now at home again, She is still unwell on morphine patches as well as orally. She is getting re-occuring chest infections and has told her family she no longer wants to fight, she is tired and had enough. I feel it is probably only a matter of time before this bright light is lost from the world. I just hope that when she is taken from her family it is quickly and as peacefully as possible.

Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts for this lady and her family

Hi Granny,

Not sure how I missed this post and for that I am sorry.

I will say a prayer for this woman and her family.

What a horrible thing to have to endure.

I do hope the pain patched help and if not, maybe IV pain meds are in order here.

Keep us posted please. Gentle hugs to you also.:wink2:
