Has anyone else had a lot of bone issues because of the Prednisone? I have OsteO Necrosis of the hips. I've already had 3 surgers First when i was 17. I've had a complete hip replacement on my R hip and Core Decompression on my left. They did a partial on my R but didnt keep pain away. Bone growth leeked down my leg and now i have extra bone. EXCITING huh?

I'm actually very fortunate, I recovered VERY quickly. I was young though so i couldnt sit still so i had to move. I was not supposed to drive for like 3 months or something and I did after 2 weeks.

I dont worry about it now. I dont have any pain. I just dont want to have to have another surgery. I have a porcelain hip right now because i am so young they didnt want to use steel because the metal gets into your blood and decreases your chance of getting pregnant or something of that sort. I have to be extra careful because i have a greater chance of breaking my hip. All is well so far though, I actually fell down a few stairs about a month after surgery and no harm. I'm lucky

Hi,

Long term Prednisone use has caused me to have Osteoporosis. It is important for anyone taking Prednisone to talk to their doctor about Calcium supplements and other medications to help keeping you from having bone loss.

I wish you luck with your porcelain hip.

Take care,
Lazylegs
