I am not sure if I am just being paranoid or weather I should maybe mention it to my GP next time I go to see her, and you guy's are usually full of helpful advise and have a wealth of experience.

I have been having dizzy spells now on and off for a couple of years which no one has been able to work out, including me. Any way I had a bad "do" yesterday which is continuing today but a little better.

But today I also had "pressure" in my neck, both sides and it felt like my neck was going to explode. It wasn't really painful just pressure and has started to ease, but this has happened before, Its not that frequent that I can think of I suppose I need to monitor it?

Thanks

dear claire, i know what that feelin gs like, when i was going to physio a while back now, i told her about my neck it was hurting like mad, she had me on the bed felt round the back and said it was all knotted very tight, she worked on it for a while, i told her sometimes when im in bed it hurts and hurts just to lie on my pillow, meaning head neck, she told me when it gets like that to sleep in my collar, and you know it helped loads

not saying its the same, but yes it wouldnt harm to tell gp would it better be safe than sorry

Thanks Lyn

I do get neck pain at the back or side of my neck most days but this is to the front of neck, both sides and feels more like a pressure build up rather than a muscular or joint type pain (if that makes sense)

Hi Claire

Im not going to be of much help in suggesting what it might be but I just wanted to say that I experienced a terrible pressure and tightness in my neck over the past couple of years. Its actually quite hard to describe but it felt like my neck wanted to explode at times. From memory it wouldnt happen too often but when it did it could last anything from a day to a few days and it would eventually ease off.

All of this was before I was diagnosed with Lupus, hypothyroidism and high BP and since being on treatment for all three I rarely experience it and if I do its never as intense as it was. Have you had your thyroid function checked recently? Sorry I just cant remember if you have any issues with thyroid but I know that hypothyroidism symptoms can include strange feelings in the neck.

In either event I do think that monitoring it is a very good idea and also mentioning it to your doctor. Sorry I couldnt be of more help. It was a mystery to me but Im ashamed to say I never reported it as a problem because it was just too hard to describe. How mad was that!

I would be very interested to find out if there was an underlying cause for it so if you find anything out do let us know.

Hope it goes away and never comes back :hugbetter:

Thanks Joan

You are a font of knowledge and wisdom. I haven't had my thyroid checked for about 4 years, the constantly checked it when I was complaining of feeling tired. My Grandmother (paternal) is hypothyroid so maybe it would be a good idea to get it checked again. But I will monitor it, I think it has happened a couple of times since being diagnosed but didn't before. Maybe I should put it down to one of those Lupus oddities!

Thanks again
