It's certainly possible to be the butterfly rash, and definitely tell the rheumy about it but better yet take a closeup picture of your face when you have the redness so that you can show the rheumy what you are talking about.

Mine usually would stick around for several days to weeks, but would get more red after time out in the sun in particular.
