A few weeks ago I started getting a rash on the insides of my arms. I have problems with sun sensitivity and do not go out in the sun, At first it looked like eczema but then it started looking like big ringworms (red circle rash with white disc inside) I went to the Dermatologist and he said it was not ringworm and took a punch biopsy. I am currently awaiting the results but was curious if anyone has seen anything like this. I have not yet been diagnosed with lupus but have been having symptoms for a little over 3 years now. I have attached a picture .

Thanks!

hey Apryl, It sucks to hear you have such a nasty rash! I recently had a rash on the same area on both arms, it started out like prickly heat then turned similar to eczema for a couple of weeks before dissappearing..it didnt turn into anything as severe as yours...you've done well to go to dermy. It looks like other rashes I have seen on Lupus patients though although im not sure what its called. I'm sure some other people on here will have more information for you! i hope it doesnt hurt and that you dont have to wait too long for the results! have you got any cream to put on it? xxx

Dr. gave me some steroid cream.. It didn't itch at first but now it itches pretty bad .. Not to mention the stitches from the biopsy itch like crazy!! If it gets bad I put an ice pack on it. Its not as bad as it was. I should get the results back at the end of the week.

Update!!

I went back to the doctor for my biopsy results. It came back as something called Erythema annulare centrifugum. I sure am hoping it will go away soon but its still there and new spots are popping up. Its just another one of those things!

Thanks for the update April

I looked it up and it seems it can be found in association with SLE. Indeed in some cases it was shown that hydroxychloroquine was a contributor (Plaquenil). Did they say anything about its origins or treatment or when it might go away? You have probably googled it already but here's a couple of links anyway for anyone interested :)

Hope it goes away real soon for you :hugbetter:

Take care

Thanks! He gave me a different steroid cream to put on it because the last made me itch more. They really don't know to much about it. It's pretty rare. Has many causes. I do take plaquinil but have been on it for 4 years. I still have not been diagnosed with Lupus. I just switched rheumatologists and he said he will not diagnose me yet. Dermatologist seems to think thats what it is with all of my other symptoms. It gets so aggrivating (and expensive) when different things pop up all the time. MAKES ME WANT TO RIP MY HAIR OUT!!!!!!
