hi there, just wondered if anyone else has this, i have a permanent redness which looks like i have sunburn all around the top of my chest to look at you would think i had been wearing a scoop neck t shirt an caught the sun it goes up both sides of my neck, sometimes at various points in the day it will be bright red as if on fire yet it is cool to the touch n other times its just red, everyone i see say ouch that looks sore thinking i'm sunburnt! also my nose is very red and the end of it has turned very rough and bobbly i look like i drink a barrel of gin for breakfast!!!! and i have a couple of roundish rings red on the outside whitish in the middle on the bony bridge part which again vary in degree of redness, quite a pretty picture i'm creating here haha, just wondered if anyone else suffers the same???

I have this rash except the bobbles on end of nose, plus i have red cheek and chin

I'd bet my bottom sterling pound you have sun photosensitivity.

I still get the same comments re the red chest and my nose can be as you describe.
Before Plaquenil I had huge blistery rashes that were treated by the GP as a strep infection!!.

Now I know better.

The thing is that although medications may dampen down sun reactions, all in all its not perfect.

Sun can cause one to feel really ill with lupus in terms of a flare and it can even be a delayed reaction of the sun exposure which really makes the self diagnosis of sun photosensitivity ruled in or ruled out as a cause really difficult in my opinion..

Im still trying to work out how the sun effects me.

Its just so difficult to avoid the sun with a busy life and family responsibilities.

I have the same exact rash on my chest sometimes it's lighter and sometimes it's darker my nose is red too and I have these irregular circular rashes that are very faint on my back, arms, face, neck,???? weird

Hi Carol,

I've certainly experienced the redness around my upper chest and up my neck like a sunburn when I haven't been anywhere near any sun.

That is a classic description of advanced roseacea (also very photosensitive). It will need treatment or it can get very bad and disfiguring if it is roseacea. A dermy is the best person to see.

Cath posted somewhere about seeing a Dermy and she has both a lupus malar rash and roseacea, you can have both.

The ring type rash is on your nose is it?

thanks everyone, it#s so nice to know you are not the only one !!!
Lily yes the rings are on my nose the worse being on the bony bit, but i also have fainter ones on my cheeks???
To all who have theis rash although i wasnt sure i should call it that as its a block of red as opposed to a speckly rash..... does it ever go? or it this it forever and does it indicate anything like activity or flare when it starts turning bright red??
