Ive got my first rheumie apt tomorrow and i am very very nervous. Ive followed everyones advice and done my list. I am not scared of what i may or may not have im just scared that he/she will say theres nothing showing up anywhere and try and fob me off. My dr has done several blood tests for various things and they have all come back clear. Any advice is greatly received.

Im also starting to forget little things. Long term memory fine but things like what had for tea that day and words or names and places etc and i keep forgetting what i was going to do next. Its getting more noticeable to people now. I keep laughing it off in front of people but i am very worried about it. Hope im not losing it altogether.

And to top it off, i went ice skating yesterday (dd birthday), nothing to strenuous, until dd pulled me over and i whacked my head on ice. Had headache for an hour but was fine after that. Until got up this morning with very painful stiff neck and shoulders arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh.

Thats it ive had my moan now, thanks for listening.

Hi Lou,
I had my appointment last thursday and felt like you, did'nt want to be fobbed off.
We just have to feel positive until the results come through, we know our bodies better than anyone, and that there is something going on that it not normal. We just have to keep pushing until we get answers.
Good luck,
Sandra.....

Good luck with the appointment, you are armed with all your knowledge and your written evidence so you can be quietly confident that you will put it all across perfectly! Just tell it from the heart and ask them to investigate thoroughly... be thinking of you. Do you think your forgetfulness could be because you are distracted by all of this at the moment? Go get em...:)

Hi guy, sorry havent replied until now but spent most day at hospital with whiplash:(

I only just got to my rheumie apt, i didnt think i was going to make it though. I felt it went really well, i gave him my list which he was really impressed with. He read through it all asking me about every item on there (and there were quite a few) and he seemed to really listen to what i was saying. I couldnt have planned it better if i tried, my hands were really cold when i saw him and he commented on them when he shook my hand and i had a rash over my face. Someone was rooting for me i think.

I had loads of bloods taken testing my organs and sle. He thinks it is quite possible i have it but obviously waiting for bloods to come back. He has told me to continue my ibruprofen for the moment and unless i hear otherwise then im to go back in 2 months time.

Overall i was quite pleased with my apt.

Thanks guys for your support, hope you are all well atm.

Great news that your doc appointment went really well.:) It sounds very encouraging.

Take care and I hope you get to feeling better with your whiplash.

Hi Lou,

It sounds like you have found a wonderful doctor. Not all doctors really take the time to listen and ask questions like that. I think you will be able to have a good working relationship in the future.

That ice can really do damage. I hope you start to feel better soon.

Take care,

Hi Lou :)

I'm glad that you had such a good appointment and that your preparation was proven worthwhile. Let's hope it's the beginning of answers for you.

That whiplash sounds most painful - ouch.

Hi Lou,
I am glad that it went well for you. As crazy as it sounds, the "love notes" as I call them, do help the doctor to isolate the important things. You can write them up ahead of time, when you have time, and put down all that you need to cover.
