I felt it coming on.....from then neck...

now the shoulder on top and in the back near the shoulder blade are swollen and kind of red. Not sure if the red is from me constantly rubbing it.

I have used creme, heat and still no relief. Even massage.

So I can't turn my neck, my shoulder is in so much pain and the elbow now and the wrist on that arm.

Any suggestions?

Could not sleep at all because I could not position myself on the left, right, back, stomache, it just killed so badly.....sleep is important

Paula, Shoulder pain really interrupts sleep, I have had it in the past.
In my case steroid injections in the gleno humeral muscle were the answer-but unless you have a Doc. who gets them in EXACTLY the right place they will not work. If you can find an experienced Practitioner of the Bowen Technique, a very gentle manipulation, that can help. (Google it for details)

If you have or suspect Fibro a Tens machine is not likely to help much.
I don't know how sensitive your skin is, but there is an old fashioned ointment, usually from smaller Chemists called Fiery Jack. You must only use a very little of it, or not at all if you are very sensitive but I found one application would give me about three days relief. (It is not for the fainthearted though)
I can imagine you must be feeling pretty sick and unwell.
Other possibility may be Metho Carbamol tablets from the Doc. Trade name Robaxin, they are a good muscle relaxant, you could even just take a couple here and there if you didn't want too manym more tablets.
Hope something here helps,

Hi Paula,

A similar thing happened to me. I had pain in the neck and shoulder that then proceeded down to the elbow and wrist. Heat and pain relievers helped but not enough. I ended up having a steroid shot and after a few days the pain was gone.

If you can't get relief from some mild massage, heat or pain medications you should see your doctor.

Take care,

Thank you Lola, I have been thinking about a Tens machine for awhile now, the pain I get is awful some days, & because of stomach problems I cannot take pain killers.
I have fibro as well as Lupus, so i guess I won't waste my money now on a Tens.

I look like a robot today :rotfl: I feel like I can do the robot dance.

My neck and arm all stiff makes me look quite fashionable. Eevn last night, the smell of bengay, the big heating pad wrapped around my neck, I was quite attractive. :)

When my neck and shoulders get really messed up I often get referred pain down my arm. I just have physio on my neck/shoulders and that fixes it up although it can take a few sessions.

hope you get some relief soon
