Hi, I have posted on here previously as I have been trying to find a Connective Tissue Disease specialist in Edinburgh. 5 months ago I tried to get a referral to the CTD clinic in Glasgow however that did not happen as it is a different Health Board. Due to lack of progress with existing consultant I am now insisting on a second opinion and hope to finally get the referral to Glasgow. However, I wondered if anyone has any experience/info regarding a Dr Nicole Amft who works in Edinburgh. I have been told she is a CTD specialist but I am struggling to find any info regarding her. Would appreciate any help.

Hi Jacquic if you get any help on her will you please let me know.As the rhumy that i see at ST Johns i can't stand him i am waiting to see him again but i would ask my own GP for a referal to that doctor Nicole Amft.Have you asked to be seen by her will you please let me know Thank You Elisabeth

She sounds like she knows her stuff, there are lots of papers she has been co author on regarding connective tissue diseases. It would be great if you could get to see her, good luck.

Hi, thank you both for your replies. My GP has established that Dr Amft runs a Connective Tissue Disease clinic at the Western in Edinburgh on a weekly basis. He is actioning the referral for me now however we have no idea how long it will take to get an appointment. Fingers crossed it will be soon.

Elisabeth if you want to PM me please don't hesitate and I can let you know how I am progressing with the referral. Sounds like it may be a good idea for you also to get a referral to Dr Amft if you are not making progress with your current Dr. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Hi,

Just wanted to update my previous post to say I had a very good appointment with Dr Amft yesterday at Edinburgh's Western General. So, if anyone is looking for a Rheumatologist who specialises in Connective Tissue Diseases in Edinburgh, from my experience Dr Amft would be a good person to see.
