Hi Alex

I am truly delighted for you! But I am also angry that you had to go through so much to get those idiot doctors to take you (and The London Lupus Centre) serious

I hope you can now get the treatment and attention you deserve to help you feel better.

As for the swollen hands, can I ask you if this is something thats just happened? If so I would be thinking of reporting this to your Rheumy or your doctor. How badly swollen are they? Are they very painful? Mine swell up now and again but never stay swollen for too long.

What medications are you on? If the swelling is due to inflammation your doctor might be able to prescribe an anti inflammatory for you which should help. Sometimes these things come and go with Lupus and unless its something very debilitating or extremely worrying I tend to adopt a 'wait and see' policy for a few days.

Sorry I couldnt be of more help. I hope the swelling goes down soon for you.

Take good care

Dear Alex,

I'm afraid I have no suggestions for the hands other than you need to ask your doc... Do you take any NSAIDS to supplment any treatment you might be on? I find I have to take some at certain times, just an idea but I'm not even sure you are on any treatment yet?

:woohoo: for the second doc on board!!! Hopefully it will make a huge difference :)

Aww bless you, what one has to go through to get some validation is crazy eah? I often wonder don't these people know were ill? Thank goodness they have seen sense.

I often get swollen hands which even turn grey/blue, very scary but so far not too serious. Hope things settle down for you soon xx

Finally Alex :excited: what a long and arduous road it's been for you

Not knowing what meds you are on right now and how long you have been on them it's hard to advise about the swollen hands. Joan's course of action is right though, if it comes and goes quickly then it's probably not too much to get concerned about. However if it is really severe and doesn't leave you or keeps coming back all the time then you should speak with your doc about it.

Take care and well done you!

love
