I had to go to my doctors yesterday, as blood tests I had done week before showed I was making to many white cells. Doctor had asked me to bring a urine sample with me also. She tested my urine sample it showed protein and white cells in my urine sample. She has put me on anti-botics for a week and then to go back and have tests repeated. What cause white cells in the urine and for the white cells in blood to be too high???

Hi Sheila-

I'm not a doctor, but I think white blood cells would indicate that there is an infection present (the white cells are the ones that fight infection I believe). That could be the reason for the antibiotics.

Not sure about protein... Maybe someone else has an idea.

The presence of white cells and protein are common in urinary tract infections. Hope the anti-bios work fast and you feel better soon :hug:

I hope the antibotics start to help and your tests come back better when next done.

A few months back I had similar experience but was told it could either be a UTI or down to inflammation in another part of my body. I did not have the blood test like you, just the urine one. I did at the time had a lower respiratory problem and some very mild UTI pains luckily the antibiotics did the trick and all got better. I was also told that wbc high in urine is not neccesarily to do with a just a UTI and possibly kidney stones, or kidney infection etc so at least they are being careful and doing follow-up tests to keep an eye on things!

Thanks Ladies for your replies it has helped alot. I almost finished the anti-botics, but the meds have given me trush. Should have said to G.P that anti-botics always give me thrush. So I have to get that treated.
