Hi everyone!

You may well have read my other thread in 'not diagnosed'. I have been diagnosed with urticarial vasculitis today and I may need to go onto hydroxychloroquine! I was wondering if anybody out there with knowledge on this or the meds would help me out in understanding about them.

Does it go away, is it an illness that is by itself or generally is it connected to something else, are the meds safe etc... I'm sure you get the jist:rotfl:

Thankyou in advance for your super knowledge.

Have a great weekend.:)

Hi I cant help with the DX, however I can tell you that the Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) is a first line of defense for many autoimmune diseases.

There are very few risks with this medication, however a very rare chance of eye toxicity exists, so it is recommended that you see an opthomologist prior (or very early on) to starting the medication, and then six month check-ups to catch it very early. The effects are fully reverable if caught early, so it pays to be proactive.

Plaquenil can take some time for benefits to be seen, so patience is required.

Here's some information from WebMd

I hope you see some positive results as quickly as possible!
