hey everyone! i'm new here, and i wanna share my story with all of you.
year and a half ago i was diagnosed with urticarial vasculitis, but the hives lasted only month and a half. after that nothing, since month ago when the same ugly rash occured. it is a typical UV rash-hives last 24 to 48 hours or more. and then they occur on another palce. my doctor first described me antibiotics- he tought it was some type of viral or bacterial infecton that manifested UV and i also took prednisone and they were gone. when i finished the pills the hives appeared again! i hate the hives.:(
i'm a hypochondriac i now i think i have lupus. or some other disease. but i don't have that butterfly rash on my face. is lupus always accompanied by that butterfly rash? i neither have the other symptomes of lupus i've read on net. what could it be? pls answer i'm really confused and scared. i hate going to the doctor beacuse i'm afraid he might tell me i'm dying or sth like that 8)

Hi Citylife,

I wanted to welcome you to the boards. This is a great place for support and information about Lupus. The people here are just great!

I am new to Lupus so learning myself yet I can tell you that a lot of people with Lupus do not get the butterfly rash.

There is great information here if you click on the sticky notes and read. Knowledge is power so read and learn all you can.

You really should see a Rheumatologist and let them do a proper work up so you know what your dealing with. Then you can get on the correct medicine and start feeling better, rash and all.

Again, welcome to a great place. I am sure others with more knowledge will be along to share some information with you.:wink2:

Hi Citylife,

It is difficult not to be worried when you read some of the information available out there. What you need to do is actually look at the symptoms you have. So far you only have the hives. No other symptoms leading to a diagnosis of Lupus are present. Until any of those symptoms manifest themselves I would not worry. When and if they do the chances of you dying are rare. The following site might be of help to you.

The butterfly rash or mylar rash does not have to be present. Many other criteria would have to be present though.

Take care,
Lazylegs
