Hi,everyone...haven't posted in a while but wanted to ask about this...I was diagnosed about 2 years ago, and it has been sort of miserable ever since...at xmas time, my left elbow swelled up and was red and hot...(Dr. said it was bursitus)anyway the elbow was very painful andlasted a whole month. Now my pinky finger and ring finger are numb and prickly, and my left hand is losing muscle and turning into a claw hand.....does anyone know what this is?? ...and do you think it is lupus related??? My hand is steadily getting weaker.

((((((((Lindylou))))))))))) I am sorry that you have been so miserable since your diagnosis :hugbetter: What meds are you on for your Lupus?

I'm wondering how well your Lupus is being controlled? Do you see a Rheumy regularly?

If you are losing muscle and your hand is that bad then yes it does sound like what has happened to some people here. I think your meds need to be reassessed and possibly you need to see a Neurologist about your muscle problems/hand tingling etc. You don't want this to get any worse and lose the function in that hand altogether :(

sending hugs and please look after your own interests, we often have to stick up for ourselves before a doc shoves us out the door and moves on to the next patient. I am good at saying that but sometimes not so good at implementing it ;)

love

Hi Lindy, oh my, what an awful thing to have to put up with. Yes, it does sound like a couple of ladies here. I suggest that you either get a referral from your Rheumy or from your GP, if your Rheumy say's no, to get in right away to have this looked at.
This sounds like nothing to let go. it needs attention. Let us know how things work out, would you ?

Definitely seek out specialist care for that left hand. Neurologist or possibly orthopedics could look into that hand. I had numb/painful fingers exactly as you describe, and also lost muscle mass in my hand but in my case it was due to cubital tunnel syndrome (which in retrospect could have been truly caused by lupus as one of my first presenting symptoms). I had surgery to move the cubital nerve out of the elbow tunnel and it cured that problem!

Best of luck to you - I hope you'll keep us posted how it goes for you. Take care...
