Defininitely NOT cooking though I am very good at baking and enjoy that (can cook OK too just don't like it).

I loved riding/training horses, aikido, photography, drawing, reading, writing, listening to music, walking... willing to try almost anything once.

For me its walking in the countryside, photography. I do like baking there is something therapeutic about beating those eggs ! I do enjoy cross stitch but my hands seem to hurt these days so don't do it as much!

I like to make bread from scratch. I usually make them into rolls. There is always a willing person to help mix the flour in when I cant stir anymore.;) Someday I will show my GD how to make homemade rolls. I think the tradition of making rolls from scratch needs to get passed on.

I also make pies from scratch. I make my own crust. (family doesn't like the store bought crusts) Apple and peach pies are my favorite.

My family and I are into photographing. There is some pics in my profile of a trip and frosted spider webs. :hehe:

Take care,
Lyn

I love making bread from scratch...I have tried some really cool breads like finnish pulling bread.

I cheat tho, I have a mixer with a bread hook, so I don't have to knead.

I would love your biscut recipe, as I have tried parkerhouse and sweet yeast biscuts.

My next project will be amish friendship bread...this will take a while as you need about 10 days to make the starter for it.

I enjoy the outdoors. Bird watching. So i have a few bird feeders in my tree. I can sit on my lanai and watch the birds, the pretty colors of them and how clever the squirrels can be. Since they are not birds, they slide down the metal hanger i have holding the feeder. They swing and drop and out comes lots of seeds to the ground. The doves love to join the squirrels on the ground.

I enjoy watching my grandchildren play in the same yard under that tree with their little cars and trucks, and shovels. Pulling their little wagon after it's filled with dirt. They enjoy climbing the tree also.

I collect wind chimes and have them hung all around this same tree. I love to hear the chimes in the breeze.

I do enjoy cooking but not always up to it. But i have to since my mom is very sick and can't get around well.

And last is my computer to keep in touch with all my friends here on this site.
And looking up information. My computer is my hobby and my life line when i am not well, or upset,or just looking for a nice card to e-mail out or a joke to share with others.

I love to shop in goodwill stores and find toys for the kids to use in my yard or just look at everyones junk that could be my treasure.

My main artycrafty hobby these days is watercolour painting. You can see examples in my album via my profile. There's a lot of planning and thinking involved as well as the doing of it

I love teaching our grand-daughter to cook. It's really good 'together' time with her getting to choose and she loves helping and doing certain things on her own. We sometimes pretend we're doing it on TV and have a good laugh mimicking the various TV chefs. (But not Gordon Ramsey ! Not that she sees his shows anyway ).

I read news reviews, commentary, biography, history from the seventeenth century and back, and anything that makes me laugh a lot.
I used to read a lot of fiction but somehow can't get into it now. I read mainly in bed but I go out like a light.

I listen to the BBC a lot and watch TV.

We don't have a garden or outdoor growing area but I love my indoor pot plants especially my orchids. Some are flowering for the third time so they must be happy.

It's a good thing you clarified the indoor "pot" plants....here in the US that is illegal to grow...LOL

I read historical romance (part fiction - part non-fiction). I love stuff about the royalty, Especially Elizabeth I

I love these "Get to know you better" threads. I think it is a awesome idea!!!

I am reading posts from other people and realize that I am the minority as far as a woman who HATES TO BAKE AND COOK!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I really enjoy watching people. I will go to the mall and buy a cup of coffee, sit on a bench and just watch people. My husband thinks I am crazy but you can learn a lot if you sit and observe people. The New Jersey boardwalk at the shore is also a great place to do this. It is pure entertainment for me.

I am also passionate about Birds so I love to hang feeders outside to attract these feathered creatures to my yard. I have a box attached to my window where I can watch the birds eat and they can not see me looking at them. This year a mama bird nested and had babies in that box. I watched 2 of the babies hatch right in front of my eyes.

I love gardening with flowers, not vegetables. Somehow digging in the dirt brings me peace of mind. I have loved this every since I was a child.

I enjoy reading but it MUST be something that I have great interest in or I wont make it past page 5 of the book.

And I enjoy cleaning and organizing things. I am "A" type personality so as crazy as it sounds I enjoy this.

I'm not a cook or baker either - but I have worked out a deal where I will cook and my husband will clean up the mess. :) On the days I am unable to cook there are always microwave meals and bread and peanut butter with fruit and frozen veggies on the side!

My hobbies include attending various sporting events at the university (football, basketball, gymnastics primarily). I also have horses, which I drive down the road in a little cart in nicer weather. I made the switch to miniature horses shortly after my diagnosis from the 17+ hand ones I raised and trained before.

I am also very much into my pets, currently one dog and two cats and some gerbils. I plan on getting another dog this summer sometime and will try my hand at showing too as the breeder is willing to help me in that endeavor and would really like them shown if at all possible. It should be fun, and I'm thinking I'll need another past-time as dear daughter will be starting preschool and then elementary school leaving me all alone at home!

I do enjoy making cakes and cooking. At present I am in the middle of knitting another Betty Boop cardigan but high on my list is reading, I always have a book on the go. I collect books like that lady who buys shoes:lol: I cannot go anywhere without buying a book.

I like to grow flowers, and use them to make floral arrangements. I love to hike in the forest during warm weather. My favorite hobbies for winter are baking, especially cookies and cupcakes, and beadworking:). This is a really fun thread-so many talented and interesting people!

I used to ride horses, it was my life for a very long time.
I have my animals and my family, but am currently a bit stuck for hobbies. My hands are pretty useless and my co ordination sucks.

I would love to make jewellery though.
I can knit reasonably, but find sewing things together hard, so garments don't look professional. I do a mean baby blanket though!

My main hobbies are talking, making people laugh, public speaking, helping Luke with his Magic. I know quite a lot about Magic but am no good at doing it myself.
Sometimes I think Luke resents me muscling in though.

So here I am, a blank canvass if anyone has any suggestions.

Hi Joanne,

I used to do tapestry, but can't control my fingers well enough anymore. Also do a bit of crochet. i used to ride horses, but don't have energy for anything like that anymore. Love birdwatching and game viewing. From the shade, of course!

Add my name to the list of former horse owners. I truly miss them! Both my mares were 17 and 17.1 hands...loved those big motors!

I do a lot of gardening. I got my first greenhouse a few years back and found an interesting thing that if I was out there during the warming days of spring, that my sun reaction was WAY down from other years. So, I have used my greenhouse since for a lot of things. Sadly, this winter with the snow we had in Dec, it damaged it. I have repaired as much as I can, never underestimate the power of a woman, zip ties and re-bar. Where the metal supports got damaged, have reinforced it using short pieces of re-bar and securing with zip ties. I am getting a new one this week when I go to the NW Flower and Garden Show in Seattle. This is to be their last one......yikes! I grow veggies and flowers. It seems my lilies are the crowning touch! My dad took shots of my garden last summer and made them into a calendar for my Christmas gift.

My animals are now down to Mikey-cat, and Molly, a mini dachsie, with 2 mini dachsie foster pups from the same rescue where I got Molly. It keeps life from getting boring. The dogs LOVE to be outside, not too conducive this time of year. They run, and play, and run, and play, and run some more. Fortunately, I have a large place so they can run around here. When they come in at night, they are tired enough they sleep mostly. Otherwise, we have the dachsie races in the house and my house is not big. I love having them, and it is a good thing to get them ready for homes. Sadly, the economy has not many homes open now. But, they are fine here until there is a home open.

I enjoy cooking, but with just myself, I try to not do too much. If it is here, I will eat it....so try to not do too much.

I enjoy reading, and do a lot of it. I like to do needlepoint, but it is hard on my hands trying to do it. The same on sewing, I have several things I need to do, but put them off.

I'm looking forward to the show this week. I am only going for one day tho. Usually I do 3 days, going to lectures, booths, etc. Not this year. I had planned to not go this year, but with this being the last one for this vendor, going this year, but not the long days. I'll get there early, and leave before rush hour traffic starts up. That way the pups won't have too long alone.
